While watching a youtube trip report (November, 2015 on the Dream), the person showed viewers both the refillable beer mug AND a refillable drink of the day glass...huh? I know about the refillable beer mug but...Have I missed the drink of the day perk? Once purchased, the glass allowed the owner to every drink of the day for $4
True???
Thanks in advance!

I knew the glasses were refillable at a lower price. But I do question the full validity of her statement.

To be honest I can't be sure about her $4 though. Is that the virgin price ... Refill I think comes in a separate cup that's smaller than the quantity you initially got in the souvenir glass.

You have a good question and I look forward to the answer.

I just watched the video and had several of those drink of the day glasses over the years. I have never ever heard that they are refillable with the drink of the day for only $4 plus auto gratutity.....kind of bummed that I missed that all these cruises if that is indeed the case!!

After added gratuity it is $5.64.
Thanks but what is "it" - the refillable glass cost or just the drink of the day cost???
I am confident that there are many DISers who partake in the drink of the day and can straighten this out...
looking forward to learning how to save money on drinks (oh, yeah!)

I think they mean the total of the drink of the day plus the auto gratuity.

I thought the price was the same, but the special glass (plastic cup) held more liquid.

I knew one of the drinking vessel's held more than the other. But what I want to know is, does drink of the day "refill" price really mean anything to us? I thought that if you have your glass with you, they will bring your "refill" in a plastic cup because they won't actually refill it behind the bar.

But if you don't have the drink of the day glass with you or you chose not to buy the glass and just the drink of the day, what is the price of that drink?

Like mentioned above the drink of the day is $5.40 which includes the 15% tip. I did notice the price was a few pennies more on castaway cay (maybe an added land tax??). I only remember this (slightly) because there was alot of $10.80 fees on our finally bill for the 2 of us.....lol.....And that is in a regular cup. We don't bother with the refill cup.

Yes, this is the case, or at least it was last year, but it's more like $4.50 plus the tip, which was about $5.50 total. You buy the drink of the day in the large souvenir cup the first day for around $10.00 and then you can have it refilled at the lower price. OR you can just buy the drink of the day in a regular smaller cup for the $5.50. Some bar tenders will just refill your cup (so make sure to wash it) other will just give you a new cup.

Right now I have two refillable cups packed. But if it isn't going to make a difference then I don't need to take up that space. My FE's are already taking up more than enough space.

From what I remember. You pay more for the "souvenir" cup. Then you can refill it for the same price as a regular cup as you have already purchased your souvenir. While you do get more, I don't think it was designed as a refill program.

I know at sail away. It's rather hard not to get a souvenir cup as that's mostly what available.

Don't forget other drink specials like happy hours and B1G1.

I agree, suitcase space is important when packing for a cruise.

I bought my drink of the day cup on the first day and used it all week to get the drink of the day for $5.40....you get a few more ounces free doing it this way. My dad also used his drink of the day cup to get Captain and Cokes for the same cost as it would have been in a normal glass!

Yes, this works! I buy the drink at the sailaway party and then use the cup the rest of the trip. It ends up being $5.50 or so per refill, which works out a bit better than just buying the drink of the day b/c you get more in the refillable cup. At the end of the cruise, I usually throw the cup away. It is just one of those plastic cups and not worth fooling with, but nice for the voyage to get those refills. I do find if I'm by the pool or something and the drink guy comes by, he'll just give me a whole new cup and charge me the refill price rather than actually going to refill my cup. At the bar, they'll usually refill my actual cup.

I so wish I had known about this early on in my cruising!!

Question: do you have to refill it with the drink of the day or can you order something else? My DH prefers more basic mixed drinks overall.

So to take advantage of this, do I need to buy the drinks at the sail away party? Or can I get the souvenir cup later in the cruise too?
