yeah yeah from experience. this is too funny and I am not trying to mock anyone. I am just trying to lighten the mood. as you can read, I am picking on myself.

Just because you don't see Disney write a check for the product doesn't mean it doesn't *cost* them...they are not free to broker a deal with Pepsi, RC or anyone else. Also, even *if* Coke & Disney worked out an arrangement between the two of them, why would an individual at the hotel be so bold to thick that the deal includes them? If Coke wanted to give you Coke, they could. If Disney wanted to give you Coke, same thing....neither did. Together, Coke & Disney decided to offer the product for PURCHASE to people at the park...end of story!

Its really easy....IT'S NOT YOURS! Most of us were raised to know that you shouldn't take things that don't belong to you...and I don't buy the "we all have our own morality" gig. Stealing is wrong. Redefining what you are doing, making excuses, and blaming the victim of your theft doesn't make it right.

My mom works in food service for a large hospital and she is always saying that soda (she deals with Coke) costs practically nothing! In fact, Coke gives her and the hospital lots of free bees so that she won't switch to Pepsi (literally, there have been times that its come down to whose given the better free gifts as the cost is so negligible). Honestly, I think one could make a fair argument that Disney is stealing from us when they charge a few bucks for a fountain soda at the parks!

These are some very weird questions-I'm 32 years old & I often order a child's meal for myself for breakfast or lunch because I am just not a big eater sometimes. Does that make me a cheater or unethical??

Also, I don't eat burgers so your second one I would never do for myself, but I think people who do that are actually being very smart & practical-there is nothing cheating or stealing about that at all. Isn't that the exact same thing as splitting a meal with 2 people??? My DF and I split meals all the time at WDW and in other places. Seems in this situation, it's the person who bought the 2 separate burgers for double the price is the one getting screwed here!!

To get back on topic: I would never reuse an old refillable mug or what not & I really don't pay much mind to those who do, aside from a quick instinctual rolling of the eyes if it happens right in front of me. Silly people trying to cheat the system.....

But I wondered: any official word on why WDW decided to switch to uniform resort-wide mugs & get rid of the year written on them? It seems like they were just opening the door to those who are prone to stealing.

We have secretly switched that mug filled with soda to a mug filled with stolen soda lets watch and see if the guest realizes they are drinkning stolen soda.

Wow, either I'm completely lost & naive & a newbie about several of these arguments or I must be considered a WDW cheater or unethical. Won't ME flat out refuse to just take your luggage? And why would someone ask to do that? How would they get themselves to the resort if they don't go with ME?

Also, why is it cheating or unethical to have a hot plate in your room??? I have never done it, but for people who are trying to save some money on food, isnt this the same as staying in a DVC and cooking in their kitchen? Assuming that the person didn't steal the food they are heating up I mean.

I understand alot of the arguments posted:
cheating=cheating & lying=lying
simple as that. But some of these others I think are just absurd things to be criticizing....unless I'm missing something here???

I can hardly believe this thread is still going.
I don't use refillable mugs, but I have another take on it. What if someone has a favorite mug they like to use, so they buy a new one but use their favorite for their refills. My point is, no one ever knows if a person is abusing the system or not.
The new mugs seem really small, so I could see someone using an older mug (larger) for a refill even if they had purchased the new ones to be legitimate.
There is really know way that anyone knows if a person has bought a 'new' mug or not.

Aha, I was not aware that hot plates are not allowed in hotel rooms. I understand now. I thought people were ragging on these people for opting to cook their own meals rather than spend their money on Disney restaurants. Thank you for explaining that.

Actually there was a thread just a few days ago about that. Someone made reservations, and didn't realize Disney wants to know the ages of your kids when they travel, and they have a now 2 year old who will be 3 when they take their trip. I was suprised when I opened this thread, because more people seemed upset by the pop taking than were ticked at the family who will not be paying for park passes or a meal for their 3 year old. And who do not fit into the room they have booked. Go figure.

And for all the cute comments about stealing cars--so where do you draw the line? If stealing coke is ok, what is to stop you from taking anything else that draws your eye? There is no rule that says it is ok to steal something that costs less than $5, but everything over that is forbidden. Taking something that you are supposed to pay for is stealing, no matter how much it costs.

No you couldn't make that arugment. Disney can put whatever price they want on anything they sell. Just because you think that price is high does not give you the right to take it.

I honestly think that so many people turning a blind eye, or making excuses, is a big part of the reason that this country is such a mess. How about being held accountable for your actions? How about having morals, not just trying to get away with whatever you can? What happened to just doing the right thing?

I do consider myself thrifty and try to save money. I was trying to lighten the mood.

Last September, a woman tried to correct me for not using a resort mug for my coffee. I had one of the resort mugs I had bought and paid for with me, to fill for my mom however I like my coffee in a real cup. She was like you know you are stealing right? I ignored her at first but then she says really loud, this woman in front of me is stealing!!!!!! So I said really how so? So she tells me, all about the mug and how if I can't afford one I shouldn't be drinking coffee blah blah blah. So I show her my mug and then she says well why aren't you using it? At this point I am PO'd but instead of argueing with her I pour coffee into the refillable mug and then pour it into my cup. I then said to her happy now? Her husband just bursts out laughing. She turns beet red and I wished her a happy rest of her vacation. I understand frustration towards cheats and sneaks and thieves, but I know what is right and wrong as a parent teaching that to my children is a priority, but being the morality police for adults isn't unless I am serving jury duty.

Furthermore, in May, when people in front to me were refilling there mugs, they filled up a small drink cup and placed it on top of the mug. I though it was a special request but no, this happened the whole trip! Who is to know that people haven't bought a refillable mug and want to have more to drink and don't want to make 2 or 3 trips! Those refill stations are exactly convenient sometimes! and they are only a small drink in reality!

No, you're not missing anything. Just a bunch of people trying to rationalize their unethical behavior so they can sleep better at night. This thread is sillly.

Doesn't bother me, I purchased 5 mugs two years ago and reuse them. But I would be disappointed with people using pop bottles etc getting refills as they didn't purchase the unlimited refill mugs..

I was saying if you complain about "this" why not complain about
"that" IN GOOD FUN! I was in no way mocking anyone as I stated in my post. I have never said I had 4 instead of 3 in my party to get the reservations or taking drinks. I believe in following the rules and I don't cheat as for the photoshare which some believe is unethical and I haven't decided for myself. I am still reading the posts and thoughts on that one. I apologize to you if you viewed me as that.
