Sorry don't know where to post this but thought this would be a good place to start.
Anyhow on to the post .Flame suite at ready.
We were at WdW May 23 – May 31st and stayed on property and will have to say that we were very disappointed in other people cheating at the drink stations especially at the resorts after spending $36.00 on refill mugs then to have everyone around us using pop bottles, old cups, old mugs from anywhere but Disney and all sizes bubba kegs and more.
To get drinks just kind of took us back. Anyhow just had to bring it up and see what everyone thought just seemed that this was the first time that we had noticed that it was this out of control??

I've seen it as well. As soon as Disney has an issue with it, it will stop.

Unless Disney has CM's that do nothing but man drink stations it isnt going to end

Unless the mugs are dated for the time of your stay it isnt going to end. If you go to any resort in 2008 and go back multiple times in 2008 what is to stop you from using the same generic mug? How can you prove or not prove which trip it was purchased on?

Soft drinks are very inexpensive. Trying to enforce a refill policy will cost Disney a heck of a lot more than what they are "losing" right now.

Disney trusts their guests to do the right thing. Almost all will.

During our last stay (Oct. '07) at All Star Music, I saw a 10 year old boy fill up a plastic popcorn souvenir bucket at the drink station!

I have to say, being three buildings over, it would have been nice to bring back more in one trip then to have to make several trips....but I wouldn't have the nerve to do this.

Another PP asked about other "cheats". This might be stretch but we sat next to a family at the Lady and the Tramp restaurant (name escapes me), and they complained about EVERYTHING. They were upset that bread did not come with their meal (it does for dinner), so the waiter brought them bread never-the-less. Well, then they complained because the bread wasn't warm....imagine that, there wasn't even suppose to be bread service at lunch.

Then wife made a big dramatic deal because she found a chicken bone in her chicken breast.

Waiter apologized for all the problems, and wife said, a free desert for all of us would make up for all the problems. :confused3 :rotfl2: :confused3 :rotfl2:

Waiter, of course, complied.

Note to self: whine and complain about every little thing justified or not = free desert.

I think that cheating on drinks is kind of stupid. Geez I could afford to go to disney but a refill pop mug is way too expensive. I'm getting 3 for my family with the meal plan though I highly doubt we'll use them much.

I can't let this stuff bother me too much-what goes around comes around is my motto.

I wouldn't if I were you dear, the acid and bile created by all the complaining would just ruin the desert and the vacation ::yes::

I guess there are just some people like the lady that you saw who go through life with excess bile.

I guess you are like me in that vacations are to relax, enjoy and bask in the love of your family

Why should it bother you if someone else is cheating... lets be honest here. Whether they use a coke bottle or a Disney mug they are still filling up and your still going to have to wait in line behind them... Unless the only reason your miffed about it is because you realize you are being cheated by being charged 10 bucks for a 10 cent mug that will be used to consume what maybe 50 cents worth of Coke if you stay there for a week.

I would suggest that its healthier not to worry about what other people are doing when it doesn't impact you... In fact maybe if you would supporting Disney's over priced drinks by buying a mug and using a coke bottle too... and if everyone else joined in as a form of silent protest… well maybe Disney would realize that their prices are just too darned high and they would lower the price to a more reasonable rate.

I mean, if you think about it when prices go up beyond the perceived value of an item, the theft of that item goes up… So maybe Disney is the real criminal here, charging so much that people can’t afford it and are forced to simply take it (don’t bother telling he about just drinking water… I’ve had the misfortune of drinking Orlando water and it wasn’t drinkable)….

Or then again... you could just live your life and enjoy it... they will live their life and enjoy it too... if we lived in the 19th century and there was a law that you were supposed to turn in escaped slaves... would you do it? If the answer is yes then I guess I can understand your tirade on cola bandits.

There is a very simple solution to not being able to afford Disney, and it does not involve stealing. It's called "NOT GOING THERE". For heaven's sake. I don't even know what else to say to this. And btw, I drink iced water at every meal right out of the Disney tap and enjoy it very much. It can be done, I promise.

And I do understand the OP's point, it's frustrating when people behave like idiots. However it's best to not watch and just enjoy your own trip. There is nothing anyone can do about it until Disney decides it's over.

Mmmm... popcorn flavored soda.... ::barf::

It's sad that in the restaurant industry, complaints are rewarded. Funny, when I have a legitimate complaint, they'll throw in like, and already free refill. :lmao:

The soda fountain stations are outside the areas that people pay for their food at Epcot's Electric Umbrella. Also,at Sunshine Seasons in The Land pavilion, you can exit the area without going past the cashiers,so if you have a mug of your own,you can get soda and leave the areas.

WOW...my guess is that you are a 'cola bandit'. Even if you aren't, your comments regarding escaped slaves was so far out of line- I'm 1/2 tempted to complain to a moderator and have it removed. :(

As for DW being the criminal? Give me a break! SO by your argument, tickets being 75 bucks to get in for a 1 day base ticket???? Why not just try to find a way in without paying?? If the idea that something is too expensive gives you the belief that it's ok to steal? Well...I feel very sorry for you and your children. (If you have any). Does this apply to designer jeans? Just steal em...how bout lipstick? Is that a blelief that you would instill in your daughter?

Just TAKE whatever you want, provided it meets YOUR criteria of expensive.

Taking something you have not paid for is stealing. What a thing to teach your children. I have no problem saying Shame on You!

When others take things that they aren't entitled to, it does affect all of us paying for the same. Where do you think some of the price increases come from? Yes, soda is cheap which is why they have the refillable mugs. However, a 20 oz. bottle of soda now goes for $1.25+ in most gas stations so Disney isn't the only one with increased prices.

I don't let it bother me on my vacation but don't try to say it doesn't affect us.

There is right and there is wrong. Taking soda you didn't pay for is wrong!

The issue isn't what the drinks cost its how much profit they bring in. The only product more profitable in a restaurant is beer on tap.
