My ds is 8 and still wears a pullup. We have tried everything to help him night train. Nothing worked and I was not willing put him on meds for it at this point.

So I thought what the heck I will try the Dri Sleeper alarms system......well we used the alarm for two weeks and for the last week he as been dry without the alarm. He is actually waking up on his own to use the washroom at night, or staying dry all night without having to get up :cool1: He is so excited and happy about it. He even had a sleepover at my sisters house and I sent a pullup just in case, but he didn't use it andhe was dry!

We did have some problems with the alarm working consecutively and we had to wiggle the wire (maybe we got a faulty one) but once it worked for 5 nights in a row it seemed to do the trick.

Interesting, I will have to look into this. My DS still wears "night night undies" (pull ups) because he just doesn't wake up to go. I will have to look into this. Thanks.

My son was the same way and was wearing pull ups at 6. He just turned 7 and for about the last 3 months or so he has been dry. It was like a switch was flipped and he just stopped. I had previously talked to the ped and she said not to worry it would fix itself and it seems that has happened.

I am seeing a trend in it being boys? I never had this problem with my DD.

It's not a boys-only issue. My DD8 is struggling with this issue too. She just started with an alarm about a week ago. It seems to have helped some. For her, there are associated digestive issues. We don't have any problem being patient with this, but it's getting very frustrating for her.

Sorry I didn't mean to imply it was a boys only issue. The pullups wasn't an issue for us either, but my son was getting really frustrated. Especially watching his 3 year old sister have no problems at all :(

Hang in there, hopefully it will work for her to. I do expect we will still have some accidents. My son is an extremely deep sleeper, so I know there will be nights when he is exhausted that he may still have accidents.

Our old Dr. suggested putting him on an antidpressant so he wouldn't sleep so deeply....um I don't think so!

I had this problem with my son up until he was a little over 7. I found that if I didn't let him drink juice after 4:00 it would help. Also, DH would get him up around 11pm to go potty. DS was always so sound asleep he would never ever remember being woke up. They do grow out of it. It just takes time.

My DD *will be 8 on 7/3* is a deep sleeper and occasionally wets the bed - she's starting waking up to an alarm in the morning - but she sleeps through it! I just have to limit her fluid intake in the evening.

DS was dry all night from about 3 on.

I've heard some kids are slower to produce a hormone that reduces the need to urinate when we sleep. If that's the case I don't mind ~ hormones can stay out of DD's body for as long as possible :lmao: My kids cousin *girl* who will be 10 in May still has problems staying dry all night ~ at least as of last fall, I haven't talked to her parents about it recently.

My DS is still struggling with this and we have tried everything. He is 14. We've tried limiting liquid intake, waking him up in the middle of night several diff times. We would wake him up around 12-1 am and he would be dry. He would go to the bathroom and then at 6 he would be soaking wet. His ped said he would do this up until he became the age his dad stopped but would eventually grow out of it. Well darn it I didn't know I'd still be changing sheets everyday. Although there are times he is dry. (maybe 3-4 times a week now)

DD never had a problem. Thank the Lord.

Just wanted to update that we are no 9 consecutive nights accident free.:cool1:

EXCELLENT!

We, too tried the alarm thing with ds - about a year ago now. He was almost 8 at the time. He did great for about 2 - 3 months or so...then had one or two accidents...about 6 months later he had a bad month or two - where he would be wet 3 nights in a row every week or two.

So it hasn't been the 100% cure we were hoping for but it DEFINITELY helped us along.

DS will be 9 in May and now he is wet about once every 2 - 3 weeks or so. Not too bad at all. MUCH more manageable than it was last year at this time - although he did have about 2 or so 'bad' months in there.

Ok, can I ask how much $$ we're talking for one? My youngest dd is almost 9, and is still sopping wet every night. We've tried EVERYTHING too. Our Dr says it's a hormone as well...but I do think a lot of it is that she sleeps REALLY deeply....once she's asleep you could run elephants through her room, kwim?

Her older sister started staying dry right around her 8th birthday....and we haven't made it a big deal at all, but dd now says her friends are starting to make fun of her, so I'd like to find an answer....I'll also make a Dr's appt, but would like to have some alternatives to ask about too....:confused3

TIA!

I 'm not sure where you are from, but I'm in Canada and got mine at Shoppers Drugmart Home Store for $80.00. If you are in the U.S. you can get them right from the website, Amazon or probably certain drugstores. I'm pretty sure they are around $65.00 in the U.S.

We got the basic model. There is a cordless model with a monitor that can go in the parents room as well, but it's quite a bit more money.

The first few nights the alarm went off he didn't even wake up. I heard it across the house in my room and had to go wake him up and it's attached to his jammies on his shoulder right by his ear!

I'm in Ontario....I might ask the Dr before I spend that much money. I know we spend that much over 5 months or so on pull-ups, but it's easier to come up with $16, once a month, rather than $80 on something that might not work.....kwim?:confused3

She is 10, will be 11 in August... Doc has tried the diabetic meds to force her body to NOT to produce as much urine - that didn't help. They hope before she hits puberty she will stop.... What the heck would I do then if she is still wetting? pull ups or pads? I sure hope she stops soon!

my son is almost 8 and is still wetting the bed every night. we have tried meds and it didn't work. i will def buy the alarm, have been thinking about it for a while now. thanks
