Where i live, the 7th, 8th, and 9th graders get a mini-prom and its called the May Dance. It isnt a huge deal, but girls get dresses, and boys wear ties. Last year i got my dress at charlote russe, and it was white and flowery. This year I'm looking for a more formal dress, but above the knees.

I was wonder where you girls get your dresses. Alot of the girls at my school go to Pittsburgh or Cleveland. Are there any chain store that you go to get dresses?

Thanks!

Macy's and Maurices are where I got my two most recent dresses, they're both fancy shmancy and about at the knee

ergh- i need a dress for the cruise i'm going on. formal wear only >______>
we've been to every store in this city & they have nothing.

we have a cinderella's closet that has formal dresses, david's bridal also sells formal dresses along w/ bridesmaid dresses and wedding dresses.

I know it's a funny name but Yonkers Junior has REALLY cute dresses that are above the knee and semi-formal to Formal dresses...That's where I got my subdub dress and it is really cute. Also Catche has some cute ones...I think thats the name of the store!

When homecoming rolled around we looked in almost all the department stores but the only one we found anything at was Bergner's. In there misses or juniors section, I can't remember which...

I really wanted a dress from Macy's like a cocktail dress but my mom already got me a cute brown one from Georgio.

if it looks alittle like that then I have to say:

CUTE!!!

I got my prom dress at Filene's..and the best part..we got it for $1.84. Yea, really. It was on the 80% off rack (we don't think it belonged there though), then we got an extra 10% off, and then my mom used her $23 store credit. So after all the discounts we got $147 dress for $1.84. It was awesome, I can't wait til I wear it in May.

Other than Filene's I looked in, Macy's, Lord & Taylor, DEB, Sears, etc.

^ That's NOT me, but that's the dress I got (it's the only pic I could find, and it's not a great one either.. )

Beautiful dress! You too, Kim.

i get my dresses at Deb and they are pretty cheap too. i also get them at cache, and Dillards and Macy's.

I got my senior prom dress (and actually, junior prom too) at One Special Evening, which is a small boutique right around the corner from my house. I actually have the fitting for the dress tomorrow... i'll post a pic of it here afterwards. hehe
But yeah... I've bought my other dresses from Macy's, JCPenny's, Lord and Taylor's, Sears, and Boscovs.

Theres this awesome website for dresses- www.oakshawaii.com Its this really cool designer who reconstructs old dresses, and anyways, they're on the expensive side (around $100 something), but they're waaaaay cool and they look better on people than the dressmaker's dummy. So if you're looking for something thats REALLY one of a kind, then this is definitely the site to go to!

ETA: okay, I hadn't been to the site in a while, so I guess they put the clothes on actual people now

The sucky thing about where I live is that we have Walmart and Macy's and thats about it. I may get another dress at Forever 21 because I think mines a little to fancy because its velvet, but I dont want our banquet to get canceled [every year 8th grade has a food fight] and yeah...

I just found a pic of my prom dress on the internet (I was bored at was searching... lol)
And this is the color I got it in too. It was kinda expensive ($130, plus $40 worth of alterations...) but yeah... I really like it.

Ooooo, Laura, I love the color! :thumbsup2

I'd highly recommend The Deb Shop (Deb for short), Forever 21, and Filene's. Wet Seal is also a Charlotte Russe-type store that is cute. (I'm trying to think chain-stores)...
