Dresscode - Can I enter the park wearing this?

So Disney dress code said no wedding attire and no costume. This is my planned outfit for Magic Kingdom. I'm in my 20s and it just dawned on me that this could either look like a costume or wedding attire (the skirt). I've never been to Disney so I'm not sure what the most dressed up that people can get without getting into trouble. This might be the only trip to Disney World I'll ever have so I do want to "dress like a princess". What do you think? Will I be able to enter MK wearing this outfit?

If not, how about wearing the skirt with a normal, non-embellished T-shirt? Would that be casual enough for the park? Or would all white, tulle skirts raise a red flag?

Top: T-shirt with pearl Peter Pan collar
Bottom: white tulle skirt, knee-length (I'm 5'2)
Shoes: Tennis shoes
Accessories: cross-shoulder bag and sun hat

P.S.: The skirt is unlined at this moment so please ignore the fact that it's still somewhat see-through

To me it looks neither like a costume nor a wedding outfit. It looks more like someone making a fashion statement.

I'm hoping some others will reply because I don't want to base your decision on just my opinion in case I'm wrong!

I agree w/the poster above me. It looks neither like a costume or a wedding dress.
I'd be really surprised if they gave you a problem.

:) I am 44 and agree with everyone else. It is cute and it is Disney. I hope you love WDW like I do and it is NOT your last trip. I was 34 on my first trip and been back every year since...sometimes twice.

Thanks so much, everyone! I freaked myself out for nothing. Must be the Disney jitterbug. Now I'll go back to lining that skirt :cool1:

I'm in agreement with the others but just want to know when you are going since if it will be hot, the pearls and the tull may be too much on a hot, sticky or raining day. I know this may be your only trip, ever, so you should also try to be comfortable so your not thinking about your outfit at all.
You could also look like a princess if you wear a tiara. I do it each trip :thumbsup2
ENJOY your trip!

It does not look like a costume or a wedding dress, but it doesn't look like princess attire either (if that's what you're going for.) Perhaps you need to add a tiara, an ermine mantle, and court shoes rather than sneakers. If you insist on dressing like a princess, that is.

Pretty, but I would think you would get hot walking around in that skirt.

I also wonder if the necklace is heavy. Disney World is exhausting. Wonderful, but exhausting. You're not going to want something heavy hanging around your neck. And if you take the necklace off because it's uncomfortable and put it in your bag, then your bag will be heavy.

Maybe wear the outfit for dinner one night, and dress more comfortably the rest of the time?

Or wear the outfit to the park, but have a T-shirt and shorts stashed in a locker at the park in case you want to change?

I'm not knocking the outfit, I'm just worried that by 11:00 am you're going to wish you were wearing something more comfortable, but you're not going to want to go back to your hotel to change.

Amen Best Aunt:goodvibesThat top will be a killer during the summer months. :scared1: I always dress up and wear neat accessories, but my clothing is appropriate to either summer or the Christmas season when we visit. If you want to dress like a princess, don't forget to pack some glitter spray for your hair; instead of the high neck and heavy pearl necklace, rock fabulous sunglasses.:cool1: Buy a couple pair at DollarTree for $1 each and add gems or sequin trim from any craft store. This year I'm going to rock a baseball cap fully encrusted with pink sequins at the resort pool. Can't wait :woohoo:

No problem getting into the park in that outfit, but be aware that it is not a ride-friendly outfit. If you plan on riding rides, it will be a hassle. Many of the rides have boats or vehicles lower than the ground. You are going to have make sure you keep everything covered when entering and exiting the rides, and I agree with the others that white is not a great choice for the parks.

I've worn knee length skirts at Disney. I was fine getting in and out of the rides, just be cautious.

Since you are lining the skirt, I doubt it will be uncomfortable or warm at all. I would keep the lining nice and loose fitting and make sure it's long enough that the tulle can't scratch your legs.

Loose/flowy skirts are nice and cool. I tried them on our last trip. And I loved them! I'm currently searching for more soft, flowing, knee length skirts to match my tops for my July trip. And I'll be tent camping at Ft. Wilderness. lol. Tent camping and skirts don't really sound like they should go together, but I don't want to be hot and the skirts were really nice.

Have fun dressing for the parks!!!

And you just never know about those one-time-only dream trips. I took a "once in a lifetime trip" back in 2005. We went back in 2010, and are returning again this summer. It really is addicting! pixiedust:

Agree with the others - should be perfectly allowed to wear it.
However as the others have said also, it's not a good summer outfit! You'll melt! Also just bear in mind that some of the ride vehicles like Splash can be wet when you get in - which would make your skirt dirty looking. And even Pirates - a lot of people climb in and out by standing on the seat, so again... that white skirt won't stay white for very long!
I'm 22 and I am NOT a casual dresser by any means - I dress very similarly to the outfit you posted. But even I have to admit that big necklaces and white skirts are not good for Florida :(

I think you will be fine once you line the skirt - I'd use a nice soft cotton fabric and maybe add a pair of shorts underneath. I've worn a white skort in the parks and never had a problem with it not staying "white".

I also agree that the necklace will get to be very hot and heavy sooner rather than later. How about just adding a nice lacy peter pan collar to your top?

Are you going to be sneakily married in the Magic Kingdom? Just wondering. :)

I think you will no problem entering, but may not be comfortable long term. Just bring some comfy clothes in your bag. Have a great trip!

I only wear dresses and skirts at Disney, shorts are too uncomfortable for me, so I think the skirt is just fine! :thumbsup2

As others have mentioned, the top might be too hot for you, and the necklace might drag your neck down, but the concept of the outfit is great!! Have a wonderful trip :)

:)So how was your trip? Did you have fun? How did the outfit work? Your ticker said you were 8 days from the trip...dont know if you are home yet. :hyper:
