Dress up????

Hi all!! I noticed the last time I was at MK that lots of the little girls were dressed up like princesses. I know that my DD4 would love love love to wear her Belle gown to walk throughout the park, and especially love to wear it during our lunch with Cinderella in the castle (really...what little girl wouldn't ). My question is this...has anyone done this and had a pleasant princess at the end of a long day at Disney???? It seems like the dress may be uncomfortable after a while.

There are more little princesses in MK on any single day than you can possibly imagine. It must not be too bad. They didn't seem unhappy. Just be careful of the shoes.

My daughter love to wear theirs also. I just make them wear comfortable sneakers or sandles. The dress up shoes stay home!! I have never had nay unhappy princesses. My youngest on one trip decided she didnt want to wear her dress anymore so I put it in the back pack (very quished) an put shorts and a shirt on her when it was time to go to dinner she wanted her dress back on. Patience on that day is a plus and watch as they get on and off things they dont get caught. Have a great time!!!

My DD6 will be wearing her Cinderella dress. We're having dinner at 1900 Park Fare. I'm gonna stick an extra outfit for her in my back pack just in case. Her cinderella slippers I wont let her wear at the park, just when we get to the dinner she can slip them on. I would definitely recommend a change of out fit just in case.

My DD4 also loves to dress up. We love picking out the costumes she is going to wear ahead of time. Its a special part of the trip planning for us. She wears sandals or tennis shoes and I pack an extra outfit in case she wants to change or wants to play in one of the play areas. There's no picture like the ones of your little princess walking in the park or riding the carrousel wearing her gown.

I told her she could wear a different princess dress every day, but that she has to wear comfortable shoes. I also plan to take a change of clothes for her because I know the princess attire will last about 2 hours tops. One idea of you can find it: Beaux et Belles used to make smocked outfits in Cinderella and Snow White plates, as well as a mermaid plate that looks like Ariel. The company was based in or near NOLA and is out of business now, but I've seen a few outfits for sale on eBay. Their outfits were "custom" in that you could pick the smocking plate, fabric, style, etc. and design your own outfit. Original retail prices ran about $80-100 to give you an idea.

My dd (5) wore princess dresses almost everyday of our trip last year. It was a fight to get her to wear regular clothes so this year we are planning out what she wants to wear each day and if she wants to dress up each day I am not going to fight it. I do bring a change of clothes and make her wear comfy shoes but because of all the extra attention she recieves, especialy from the characters, she never wants to take it off and is always very happy at the end of the day. Just be carefull like a previous poster said and watch the dresses from getting caught on anyhting.

My DD4 has many dresses from birthday gifts and Halloween costumes and wanted to take all of them to WDW. At first I told her she could choose 2 and she did, but was very sad. So I gave in and she dressed as Belle, Aurora, Snow White and Minnie during our trip. I always had a comfortable outfit with us, but my little princess never wanted to change. I did make sure she had comfortable shoes. We found some white leather sneakers at Target with charms on the laces and she loved them. (She has rather wide feet, though, and we ended up finding similar but more expensive shoes at Stride Rite.) We went in January and it was never hot. I can't imagine that she would have been so comfortable in the heat in those dresses. It was lots of fun and she was called a princess many many times!

My DD has 2 princess coustumes, Sleeping Beauty and a Jasmine one. I take them with me but she has only ever drssed up at 1900 Park Fair or MNSSHP. IF she is going to wear it in a park I would bring a change of clothes and even a bib. My DD always makes a mess eating icecream and I would hate to have her stain one of those dresses.

My niece wore her dresses just about everyday but I drew line on that she had to wear sandles or tennis shoes.

When we went last May my 5 year old wore a pair of comfy light weight cotton shorts and a light weight tank top under her princess dress to the CRT breakfast. It was perfect because it was a little cooler in the morning and I knew that the dress would come off shortly after breakfast. H&M has great princess see thru aprons/bibs similar to art smocks that go up to 6 years which I bring with us whenever I know she'll be wearing a nice outfit. Came in really handy at the CRT.

Thanks everybody for your suggestions!!! My little Belle will be all gowned and crowned up for lunch at "the Castle" with Cindy...minus the shoes. I'll have a change of clothes with me (I usually do this even for my DS7 because you never know!) and my camera! Now THAT is really making magical memories!!
