Dress up for Cirque?!?

I was just reviewing this board's information regarding Cirque du Soliel, which we will be attending in a few weeks. The information included seemed to indicate that folks dress up for this and that at a minimum khaki's & a golf shirt would be proper.
Has this been anyone's experience?

We're going to the 6PM show on our first day there and our plan for the daytime hours is pretty full of non-Disney Orlando stuff. I was hoping to head right to DTD and do some pre-show shopping before seeing Cirque and would like to avoid having to go all the way back to AKL to change prior.

Can anyone give me an idea what the reality is on this? Are shorts taboo at this venue?

We were there last Thursday. The dress is definitely more casual than the show we saw in Vegas. Lots of shorts/casual clothes and occassionally somebody in all black with heels. Didn't see a single suit coat or jacket.

I went in January, and there were alot of people dressed in all kinds of clothes from shorts, to dresses! we went middle of the line I ***** pants and a nice shirt.

I don't think it warrents going back to the hotel to change. But that's my opinion.

When we went I saw lots of folks in shorts. You won't feel out of place if you are dressed down. When the show starts you'll forget what you are wearing pretty quickly anyway - it is quite a spectacle.

Great, thanks for setting my mind at ease everyone. I got a little stressed when the info here recommended treating it as you would a night at the theater in terms of dress (who wants to deal with that on vacation??)

My husband wore a pair of nice shorts and a polo shirt. Seemed to be fine, but then I really don't pay attention to the fashion police.

We went to the early show then to dinner while we were on our honeymoon. Since we were having a nice dinner we dressed up a little (dressy sundress and DH wore dark pants and button down shirt). We felt very overdressed. I would say most of the people were in Jeans and shorts and tee shirts. There were only about 10% of us who had skirts, dresses, pant suits on. Most were dressed as if they came straight from the park or were going to the movies.

I normally don't pay much mind to the fashion police either dgaston but I do like to dress appropriately for any particular venue. I wouldn't want to show up in shorts if the description here on this website was correct in indicating that we should be in theater attire (which is well beyond resort casual in my neck of the woods). Seemed unlikely given that the show is at DTD but I just wanted to make sure.

We went this past May & people were very casual & then there were people dressed up. But there were more people very casual than dressed up. We felt we were in the middle. I had on a long kahki skirt & top & DH had on dockers & short sleeved button down shirt. Hope this helps
