Dress question for 9 yr old daughter

My daughter has been wanting to REALLY dress up on formal night and I'm afraid she'll be overdoing it for her age. She's 9 and she wants to wear a fru fru fairly like dress. Its a beautiful dress...like a paegent dress, but I'm afraid its too much...it has a velvet bodice and a long, full tule skirt.

Those of you have been on the cruises.....will she stand out and be embarassed...or do other kids her age go all out like that? I tried to talk her into an elegant type dress. You're thoughts???

Absolutely let her wear it, she'll be darling! LOTS of little girls do the fairy princess look. I have to drag my 9-year-old tomboy kicking and screaming into a dress so enjoy your girlie girl and she will look perfect for formal night.

Thanks for the advise...I'd love to let her wear it...I was afraid that maybe a 6 year old could pull it off but being 9 she would look out of place. I guess maybe I should give in

I say let here wear it too...................enjoy them while they will still put on a dress!

I agree too! My daughters, who were 11 & 9 when we cruised both got very dressed up for formal night, it made for some great pictures! Enjoy!!

She'll look great! I made my daughter a fancy, sparkly dress with long white gloves our last cruise and the boys wore tuxedos! It was one of the best parts of the trip!! This time I made another sparkly long halter dress with the rhinestone jewelry, of course, and I reworked her old one, so now she has a different one for each formal night! Can't wait!!!
