Gwen, welcome from lurkdom! I would try Macy's if you want to go the Liza route. Or Nordstroms. Nordstroms has outlet or cloesout stores where you can also find some great dressy stuff. Go to the better dresses area and tell the sales people what you are looking for (glitzy pants suit). I bet you will be stylin' in no time!

Hey, darling, as you well know I was at Nordy's today; it's the anniversary sale after all!!!

I know I'm a little late to join this discussion, but I wanted to add that on our last cruise (Disney of course), I wore a formal dress, and Jen (who hasn't worn a dress since she was 5) wore a tux for formal night. We didn't get one strange look all night, and we felt one-hundred percent comfortable!! We don't have occasion to get all fancied up very often, so (at the risk of sounding cheesy ) it was a "Magical" night!
Good luck, and most of all, whatever you choose to wear, wear it proudly and HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!

Not too late at all. We don't leave for five weeks and we have yet to go shopping. For one, I'd love to see her in a tux, but there's no way she's going to spring for that. I think I'll have to wait for the 50th anniversary to see that day!

Ok, this is so not what I thought this was going to be about. I had visions of a drag queen gliding through V&A, boa trailing along, huge 70's Cher at the Oscars head dress, painted long dragon lady fingers preening the brightly sequinned gown and humming the theme to Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Rick - did you see me wearing this to the Madonna Concert at the Garden???


Gwen honey - I love Nordstom - I'll take you anytime!!!! ( I think they love me too! - I have an issue with shoes). Anyway - I'll take ya! Any excuse to go!

And I think a nice suit would be fine! Most important that night is to enjoy and to celebrate your anniversary!!!!

In all seriousness Viki, I wouldn't see the big deal what your partner wore as long as it was appropriate, i.e. a suit. Shorts and a t-shirt at V&A, nuh uh. Suit and tie? Heck yeah!
