Now please don't turn this into a battle yet again over dress codes as that's not what I'm looking for. I don't need to hear opinions on what people think is proper, just honest reponses on the guidelines and what others have seen on their latest 4 night cruises.
Last time we cruised a 4 night on DCL was years ago and I can see that the guidelines have changed. Can I get some honest answers to what is acceptable and what you have all seen? I see from the patters that there is a "dress up night" but then read that there is no longer a formal night. What is the norm then for these nights? I also see that a dress shirt is required for Palo but it no longer states that a jacket is required, is this true? What do most people wear on Pirate night besides dressing slightly like a pirate? Do most teens seem to wear jeans and a polo shirt on casual nights?

Thanks everyone. Just need to know what to pack for next week.

I can't contribute because I haven't been on the cruise yet. I am so glad you asked though because I am getting really worried that I'm going to bring something inappropriate. I know that for grown ups shorts are a no-no at dinner but other than that I'm confused. Believe me it doesn't take much to confuse me!

Taken directly from the navigator:

Suggested eveing attire: cruise casual (no shorts, swimwear, or tank tops please)
Suggested Palo diner attire: dress shirt or jacket required, no shorts please

I have witnessed a man being turned away from Palo brunch because he was wearing shorts.

We last cruised in 12/05 when this was in effect and I did not notice many jeans in our dining room (that is just 1/6 of the seatings so it may have just been our seating). Most people were dressed the same as we had seen before the change took place.

It sounds from posts that more people dress up for Pirate night on the Magic than the Wonder for dinner. You could always go back to the room & change for the part if you wanted to.

Our last 4 day cruise was last September. We packed just for the regular rotations and planned every night as cruise casual (dockers and polos for DH and pant sets/sundress for me). That worked fine for every night. It used to be people dressed a little fanicer for Triton's then the other resturants, but I think that is what "dress-up" night replaced.

We hadn't planned on going to Palo but got invited to dinner up there. We bought DH a dress shirt and tie in the gift shop and he fit right in. There were a number of men up there without jackets.

Enjoy your cruise!

We are cruising a week from today on the 4 day wonder. We have decided to step to the "beat of a different drummer". We are dressing up on all nights, except for pirates’ night, which we have some pirate type clothing to wear. On Nassau night, we are wearing mother of the bride dresses, since we are two mother of the brides that spent a ton of money on these dresses and have no were else to wear them. DD is wearing a nice dress that was purchased especially for that night. We even made door signs that say “Our invitation to formal night has arrived….”…. Now, I know there is no FORMAL NIGHT, but since we have a “different drummer”, there is now one for us.
