I know the dress code for California Grill is business casual, but do people realyl dress this way? The DH and I have an ADR there for our anniversary, and I don't want to be overdressed, but I also don't want to be under-dressed either. I was just curious as to what most people wear! TIA!

I think California Grill really varies in the attire people wear! I've seen people in tanks and shorts(not really allowed) and in cocktail-type dresses in the same evening. I usually wear capris and a casual, summery blouse with dressy sandals and Dh usually wears a polo or button-down Havana type shirt with dress shorts/khakis and we've always felt appropriately dressed in that but not over-dressed for going into MK afterward if we so choose. It's nice to dress up a little, especially since you might want a few pictures on your special night. Have a GREAT Anniversary dinner!:goodvibes

Whenever DH and I have eaten at California Grill, he wears nice pants and shirt and I wear, usually, capris or a skirt and a nice shirt. Again, there will be folks dressed fancier than you and folks dressed more casual than you are.

Enjoy your meal!

It looks like they just changed the dress code again according to allears.net. T-shirts are now permitted (not that a lot of people were turned away for wearing them before). However, I agree with the other posters that no matter what you wear, there will be people more dressed up and more dressed down. Hubby usually wears khaki shorts and a polo or hawaiin style shirt (he always picks up a new disney one) and I usually wear a skort and dressy tee. Oh and sneakers are fine too. I think I wore my birks once instead of pretty sandals cause my feet hurt but no one said anything.

YOU ARE AT DISNEY - WHY HAVE ONE BIRTHDAY DINNER! I took my son last year for his third birthday and we are going this August/September for his fourth birthday. Last year we ate at Wolfgang Puck and then saw Cirque du soleil. It was a little disappointing. The food was terrible. The show was good - but he got bored. We had more fun at Chef Mickey's. This year - we are skipping downtown disney altogether and going to Chef Mickey's on his birthday. I will probably celebrate his birthday on more than one night - it's Disney - Why not....

When I ate there I saw people dressed in shorts and t-shirts to suits and dresses. Our party wore business casual i guess you could say. I think just looking neat cuts it.

okay.. this is the dress code prior to any recent changes

Dress Attire is Business Casual

Men: Dress slacks, jeans, trousers, or dress shorts, short or long-sleeved shirt with a collar required. Jackets are optional.

Ladies: Jeans, skirts, or dress shorts with blouse or sweater, or a dress required.

Not permitted in dining room: tank tops, swimming suits or swim suit cover ups, t-shirts, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing of any kind.

shorts were never completely disallowed. the reported change removes the tshirt ban.

Normally I go with dressy capris and a nice blouse or a sundress. DH wears khaki pants and a polo. Shoes, I go with dressy sandals and DH wears slip on boat shoes. I will admit that you will see a huge range of dress at the signature restaurants. And what other people wear really doesn't make much difference to me. But we really enjoy going back to the resort, taking a dip in the pool, and then getting cleaned up for a nice night out.

Note: If it is your first time to WDW or you don't go very often, then you may find that you do dress down a bit because you are going right from the parks. And that's fine too.

We were there in mid June and our party of 4 dressed just above business casual. My DD12 enjoyed dressing up, and there were quite a few other groups dressed very nicely. We actually enjoyed it for a night:snooty: Have fun, the dinner is excellent!
