Hi everyone, I'm new here and looking for any information about our upcoming cruise.

We're on the 4 day that leaves July 31, this is our first time cruising and what to pack has become so confusing!!

If we are given our requested rotation we will be in Triton's on pirate night and Parrot Cay on 'dress up' night. Since Triton's is considered the fanciest (except Palo) restaurant - will we look ridiculous dressed as pirates?? And since Parrot Cay is the least fancy - how dressed up will people be on 'dress up' night??

One more question - would nice capri pants be considered appropriate for 'cruise casual' dinners?

Thanks everyone!! :earsgirl:

Formal night is the same no matter where you are assigned. Everyone dresses up as this is whenall the formal portraits, champagne in lobby and Golden Mickeys is. Pirate night is the same, it does not mattter where you are you will dress up like pirates or tropical.

Yes Tritons is nicer to look at and their regular rotationl menu is possibly better, however it does not dictate how you dress in there. We were in PC for formal night on the cruise we just got off of. You don't just dress up if you are going to Tritons. It is whtever the theme of the night is.

Most people will be wearing formal dresses, suits...You will see some tuxes, you always see some in Sunday dress.

The four-night cruise doesn't have a formal night. We always dress up a bit for Triton's because they take your picture there, and we always hope that we get at least one good picture of us from each cruise. The one in my sig is from Triton's last December.

on pirate night it is fine to dress up in costume for tritons. we did a halloween cruise a few years ago and the majority of people wore costumes to dinner that night at every restaurant.

as far as formal goes-some folks go all the way with a tux (you can rent through disney and it will be in your closet when you arrive) and ballgowns, some sports coats, cocktail dresses, nice ladies pant suit. just go with whatever is comfortable for you. don't feel that if your formal night is at parrot cay that you can't dress up for it. it may be a more informal restaurant than the others but it is still very nice and you would not feel overdressed. capris are great for the casual nights-in fact with the exception of shorts pretty much anything goes on those nights.

a question-how did you request a specific rotation, in my experiences specific rotations cannot be requested-only possibly changed after embarkation. how did you make your request?

barkley,

my cousin is our travel agent and she requested it for us...I assume she did it when she made our reservations but I'm not sure...being new at this I thought it was like making a room request at WDW - requested but not guaranteed.

Thanks so much for the replies...I don't want to overpack but I don't want to leave out the appropriate clothing either. :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

The dress code has really loosened up a lot. Wish we would have known this before our recent 14 night. You can wear jeans in the dining room. There is not a formal "dress up night" on the 4 night..so you don't need dress clothes. For Palo a dress shirt and pants are acceptable for a man, and a pant suit/capri outfit or dress for a woman.

From now on I can certainly pack a lot less. On pirates night everyone is extremely casual, some pirate costumes. Hubby wore shorts, it was great!

What about Skorts? Are they acceptable at dinner?

Here jrabbit's hierarchy of cruise dinner clothes...

The Tuxes look down upon the suits
the Suits look down upon the sport coats
the Sport Coats look down upon the dress shirts
the Dress Shirts look down upon the polo shirts
the Polo Shirts look down upon the tee shirts
the Tee Shirts look down upon the tank tops
the Tank Tops look down upon the swimming suits

and so it goes:)

and everyone looks down on me because I'm wearing sandals and dark socks :earseek:

We were on the May Repo cruise.. and pirates night was at Luminier's.. we were in costumes plus decorated our table to the hilt....

You should be able to be casual the rest of the nights.. Capri pants are good.. The only thing the men on our table complain as they could not wear shorts but the gals can wear Capri.. LOl.....

that's so funny!! My DH thinks I'm crazy for even thinking about this so much

So this whole "dress" thing has thrown us for a loop here. My son(teenager) only owns jeans and some black T-shirts. (okay, maybe somewhere hidden in his closet he a has one button up shirt left) The question is do we need to force him into a pair of Dockers or will jeans suffice with a nice shirt?

:confused3

PS. And what is the deal with all these storms? Starting to get nervous, we leave on Saturday for FLA.

Thanks,
-Kevin

Disney cruise line has really lightened up the dress code. For you..there isn't any dress up night..no formal night, even at Tritons. On pirate night..everyone is casual, and the 4 night sailing is casual anyway. Jeans are now allowed in the dining room at dinner, this is excellent and doesn't take away from anything.

Capris and a top a great for dinner, all nights, including Palo. Men no longer need a jacket, they never needed a tie at Palo. Now all that is required are pants (not jeans) and a collared dress shirt.

So, pack light and enjoy your cruise!

Again we will admit, DCL will not correct or remonstrate guests for their attire. That said, after 3 cruises and several visits to formal night and Palo, we can state with confidence that cast members and fellow cruisers appreciate those who make an effort to dress for the occasion. Required, no. Appreciated, yes, yes yes...Not your thing, consider Carnival.com...

My thinking is, I'm cruising the Caribbean, why the heck do I want to dress up! :scratchin

No shoes, no shirt, no problems!

You forgot no dinner in dining room.... ;)

On the 4 night you repeat the dining room where you have pirate night. If you want to dress up in Tritons, you would do that on the second night there so you don't really miss out on that if you have Pirate night there. :)
