Dress codes?

Hi,

Boy, I'm surprised this post has been up for this long without a reply! This one usually gets the posts flying!

The "signature restaurants" such As California Grill, Artists Point, Citricos, Jiko have a dress code, but it is a suggested dress code.

The dress code basically comes down to: no tank tops on men, and no swimwear on anyone.

You will see people in all types of attire in these restaurants...some in t-shirts and shorts, some pretty dressed up, others somewhere in between.

Disney's version of business casual is not the same as the rest of the world's definition!

As Bob says, signatures have a suggested Dress Code

The only restaurant with a strict dress code is Victoria & Albert's. Men must wear a jacket and a tie and it's suggested that women wear dresses, but pantsuits or dress pants with a nice blouse is acceptable.

They also said today when I made Jiko ressies that no hats for Gentlemen also. They also said no cutoff shorts either.

Sorry if this has been posted before. :( I was searching but didn't see anything. I noticed one restaurant mentioned "no tank tops".

Thanks for the input. I just like to see what really happens as opposed to what the restaurants "suggest".

By the way, welcome to the DIS, AimeeAurora!

No need to apologize...the search function is a little balky (understatement of the year)!

NOW it looks like the posts are coming! That's more like it!

I just wanted to add that if you book a ressie at a restaurant with a dress code the CM will tell you. We booked a ressie at Citricos and didn't know they had a dress code. After we booked it the CM went through a spiel about what we could wear. So don't worry about showing up in inappropriate clothing, they'll tell you ahead of time.

It is a *suggested* dress code, but we've been at Artist Point and seen them turning men away or offering them collared shirts. We haven't seen that at any of the other signature restaurants, though.

But, ya know... be part of the solution, not part of the problem. ;)

T-shirts are now perfectly acceptable as long as they have no offensive logo.
The tank top prohibition seems to pertain only to men. Same for hats. We see women all the time at the signature restaurants with tank tops and wearing hats.
As Bob P suggests, the only things off limits are swim wear, tank tops on men, hats on men, and REALLY torn clothing.
You'll find the actual dress code at the bottom of this link:

I find the blurb about the "jacket optional" funny-- considering what's in the code. I can probably count on both hands ( and maybe one foot) the number of times we've seen a man in a jacket at a Disney restaurant other than V&A--and that's since 1975.
And don't worry about footwear--almost anything goes, except perhaps those pool-style rubber flip-flops. And we've seen women even wearing those at the signature restaurants.
