Dress Codes at School.

You have to wear ID in schools in America? thats really strange we don't have that in the UK (well the towns/cities I know haha).

My school was sort of strict, you could only wear:
-White Shirt
-The School's Tie (I thnk it was blue with lines of red and gold)
-Black or Grey School Trousers
-Smart Shoes

You were not aloud:
-"Big" Boots
-Ties of any other colour
-Jeans
-Trainers
-Any t-shirts under the white shirt
-No Band hoodies to be worn in the school
-Dye hair unnatural colours
(I just realised I broke every one of these except the hair dye one....I wore all that stuff for the last year haha).

Luckly my college lets anyone dress how they feel comfortable...though to an extent. Nothing that could hurt someone is aloud....I'm going to be wearing Platform boots :-) and the college is fine with it because others have done it too.

Not all schools in the US. At my school we have 2500+ students, so they have to find a way to make sure everyone there is a student.

Ah I guess that is a problem having non-students...I guess because of my school's strict uniform rule we didn't have that problem much (I think it happened twice).

We don't wear IDs.
We did in the eighth grade, when the dress code was brand new, but now no one cares & you have to pay if you want an ID.

Be grateful that you don't have standardized dress.
I mean, like only certain colored polo shirts and certain length/colored pants.
And specific colored jackets.
You can't have a logo that isn't school approved on anything, whether it be pants, shirts, or jackets.
Your shoes have to have a heel to the back of them, so basically you can't wear flip flops and shoes like that.
You can't wear jeans even if they are the right color.
Shorts have to go to your knees when standing.
Shirts have to be tucked in.
Shirts and jackets must be solid colors, so no stripes or polka dots even if the stripes and polka dots are approved colors.

The dress code we have makes shopping very hard.

I could absolutely not to the 'shirt tucked in' thing. I had to do that for work, and it was awful. To me, girls look kind of funky with their shirts tucked in.

Anyway, in college we have no dresscode. You can wear anything you like as long as you don't come in naked. (:

my dress code isn't that bad

I'll copy it from the school site

• Apparel related to gangs is forbidden including gang colors (for students identified as associating with gang members).
• Apparel that depicts illegal substances (e.g., drugs, alcohol, and tobacco), pornography, profanity, violence, illegal behavior, or which is demeaning to any race, gender or creed is forbidden.
• No revealing apparel is permitted. No cleavage, midriff, bare chest or buttocks may be showing. Undergarments must be covered and not visible. Attire that is “see-through”, strapless or backless may not be worn to school. Shorts and skirts must extend beyond the end of the fingertips when the student is standing with arm straight down at the sides.
• No pajamas (except on school-approved dress-up days).
• No sagging. One’s waistband must be above one’s derriere at all times.
• Chains hanging from pockets, belt loops or the waist are not permitted.
• Teachers may require students to remove hats, hood or sunglasses in the classroom.

You probably could come naked. I've seen some girls dressed where they were practically naked.

pretty much all schools in australia have a uniform. private schools are more strict than public schools though. i was at a private school. here is the uniform:
- yr7-10 girls had an ugly green checked dress with buttons down to the waist and skirts that blew up past your head in the wind for summer. for winter it was a green checked pleated skirt or pants made from the same fabric and a white blouse.
- yr11&12 girls had a choice of a long pleated skirt or a knee-length pencil skirt (both green) and a white blouse with batwing sleeves and darts up to the bust.
- no make up or jewellery for yr7-10, except for a small ring and one stud or sleeper earing in each ear.
- black leather shoes.
- hair accessories can only be black, white or bottle green.
- bottle green woolen jumper for all girls, yr7-10 girls can also wear grey woolen jumper.

and there's a sports uniform too...
