I'm still a little confused about the "resort casual" dress code for some restaurants. Can someone please tell me WHICH ONES have this dress code and exactly what it requires ? I don't plan to go anywhere unless the kids can wear their play clothes (shorts/shirts) and Mom and Dad can wear shorts and polo type shirts.

Thanks !

This has been discussed ad naseum in several threads over the past couple of days--please do a search before asking the same questions. Thanks.

Anne

Planner 999, it's perfectly ok for you to ask.

It looks like "The Duck" hasn't had cofee yet. No need to be so harsh. Most experienced DISers are very niceto us new kids...

You are ok with your polo and shorts. I'd stay away from tanks and sport shorts...

You will be just fine. If you actually did a search, you would end up more confused than you are now!!!

So true sadly!

And don't be afraid to ask questions. I was new to discussion boards when I found the DIS. I'm sure it took me a while to even find the search function. Ask away. If someone doesn't want to read your post or answer your question, they don't need to do so.

You'll be fine in that dress everywhere save Victoria & Alberts. :sunny:

I did not mean to come off sounding nasty at all. Truly not my intent. The point is that it's considered good ettiquette to take a moment and scan through a page or two of posts prior to asking a question that has three if not four threads actively being discussed on the same topic already.

Thank you for the kind replies. Actually, I've spent many, many hours reading and searching the boards and was still confused, so I was trying to confirm. I appreciate all of those who enjoy talking about Disney and helping everyone. I've been twice, but it's been a few years so a lot has changed. Thanks again !

When I made reservations for Jikos, I was told dress is resort casual. When I asked if shorts were permissible, I was told they should be dress shorts.

Now for the confusing part, some of the F&W dinner events are resort casual, but there it means no shorts, t shirts, tennis shoes, etc.

I'm glad you asked that question, because I was going to anyway!!!! LOL!!!Better for you to get a nasty reply then me!!! I was also confused because I thought someone said California Grille had a dress code now!

shorts and a polo are fine in all of the in park restaurants, even more upscale ones like Coral Reef, CRT, etc.

Certain resort places have established a "resort casual" dress code- I believe it is Jiko, California Grill, Citrico's, etc. There's a thread somewhere that lists them all. There is a great debate as to what exactly resort casual consists of, so won't go there.

Of course Victoria and Albert's has a semi formal dress code- jackets for men and dresses/pantsuits for women.

In 90 % of the restaurants, what you describe would be absolutely fine.

You know, I really wish Disney would be more specific about dress codes. What one person considers "resort casual" might be totally different from someone else's definition. It sure would save alot of wondering and worrying about what to wear.

With the exception of V&A's, it's kind of hard to be sure. :)

In any case, I don't think a Mickey shirt and shorts is the least bit offensive in a WDW restaurant, but that's just me. ::MickeyMo :)

Grinning ghost:
You are so right--on both counts. I've worn my Mickey T to WDW restaurants for over 30 YEARS--and so far as I know, never even gotten a second glance, from CM or restaurant patron alike. But obviously me and my kind have been offending some folks--.

And then, of course, the "code" isn't enforced anyway--only adding to the confusion.

Actually on my last recent trip DH and I went to Chefs De France twice while in Epcot. Would have liked to have done Chefs once and Bistro once, but as we were dressed in theme park casual and Bistro is a little dressier I just wanted to avoid any hassle, and stuck with Chefs. I guess I could have confirmed dress cose with Guest Relations in the parks when making the ressie, but wasn't cerain that I would have still ended up confused, so took the easy option! We were dressed fairly smart for a day in the August humidity, polos and shorts but would that have suited Bistro? Some say yes and others no.

There you go again. Some report "theme park" clad diners prevented from dining at Bistro. Others indicate the place had lots of such folk.
MY guess is that you would have gotten in with nary a problem.
OR maybe not :confused3
