I know there is a list of 10-15 restaurants that have official dress codes. But is it really ok to walk into all of the other places in just shorts and a t-shirt? All the pictures they show, everyone looks relatively well dressed and not what I would generally put my kids in to walk around WDW. What do you experts think?

When we go, my 3yo usually wears shorts and Disney T's. The baby this past time wore one piece sleeves carter's outfits. I wear tank tops and capris and my DH wears tan shorts and light golf shirts or t-shirts.

All of the pictures on the WDW dining pages are staged shots of models, so I wouldn't consider them to be the standard or the norm.

1) Trust Rusty.
2) Except V&A, no eatery enforces a dress code.
3) Regardless what is written or posted.
4) Unfortunately, I have seen people in ragbags at Signature restaurants.

Flip flops..yea or nay? I want to wear my croc flip flops, they are comfy and dry fast if I get wet. Will the sight of my feet offend? Big 'ol size 10's that have a nice pedicure? :lmao:

1) As long as you don't put them on the tabletop, no problem.
2) At least not until dessert.

I plan on wearing a nice dress and heels to our signature. We are going to Shula's so I doubt that I will be overly dressed. I do hope that people dress nice. Considering it is "signature" I think a dress code should be enforced

3) And definitely don't put them on the table until you've finished your entire bottle of wine (then at least you'll have an excuse when you post them on the Dis)

We wore nicer clothes when we went to Narcoossee'e this August. There were many, many people that were not dressed up at all...and nothing was said. Apparently the do not enforce the dress code there. I was very surprised.

I think it would be very difficult to enforce a dress code when many of the resturants are in the parks and from reading these boards it seems most dine there during the time they are visiting the park, ie they are not leaving to go and change and come back.

I'm just not comfy in the shorts and tank or tshirt in ANY sit down restaurant.
But you see it everywhere at disney.....
We usually bring a light change of clothes and get freshened up before dinner. My usual attire is generally a skort and sandals while at the parks anyway. Even my teen DS wears collar shirts to dinner...Funny thing actually....he LOVED cruising as we got all spiffed up for dinner each night...He's got good taste in dress clothes for most part. Lucky Me :rotfl2:

I agree with a lot of the previous posts. Most restaurants do not enforce the dress code, but we enjoy dressing nicely for a signature restaurant. I always feel comfortable in a polo shirt and dress shorts or pants, and for the person wondering about crocs, i have seen plenty of pairs at these restaurants. I would agree that Shula's, Il Mulino, and bluezoo at the Swan/Dolphin tend to have more people follow a dress code than the Disney restaurants do. I always go with the mentality of "make it what you want". If you are just breaking from the parks for a meal and then going back to play, dress accordingly. For us, dinner at a signature restaurant is usually our time for a night out together, taking it a little slower, and maybe even going to the parks to just stroll around in our fancier duds. I think as long as you are comfortable with yourself, go and be happy!
