What is the acceptable dress code for most restaurants? With 2 small children, most of my ADRs are for lunch. We will be in the parks prior to lunch, so I expect us to be in comfortable clothes (i.e., shorts, Tshirts). One lunch is at Coral Reef; would that require a nicer outfit?

You can go in your park clothes to any restaurants in the parks. Same with most restaurants in the hotels. We enjoy "dressing up" alittle if we eat at 'Ohana in the Poly. We have disney hawaiian shirts and I have a matching dress that I like to wear there. Especially with two children in the parks - it is not worth it to go back to your hotel to change. If they are girls and you are going to a character lunch with the princesses or Minnie they might want to wear costumes to these. If not - there are some great Disney t-shirts that they can wear. Not only the kids - we are two adults in our mid 40's and I always wear my Disney t-shirts to the parks. I wore a great Minnie t-shirt to breakfast at the Cape May Cafe. Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale were there and we got some great pictures.

Hi. If in doubt, you can check dress code by looking at the "Disney Restaurants and Menus" link. Here it is: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningmain.cfm
You can type in where your ressies are and if it doesn't give a dress code (which Coral Reef doesn't - I checked), then you're OK. :thumbsup2 Others, like the California Grill at the Contemporary state "Resort Casual dress is required", so you'd have to change out of your park clothes for that one. Good luck and have a great trip! :goodvibes

If when you made your reservations and no dress code was specifically mentioned, then the norm is what you wear to the parks. Otherwise, you would have been told what the acceptable dress code is for that specific restaurant. Since most of your reservations are for lunch, park attire should be quite fine.

Nope, no such requirement at Coral Reef, or any other in-park restaurant for that matter.

In fact, shorts and t-shirts will be fine in any on-property restaurant, except for Victoria and Alberts.

Only the "signature" restaurants that are not in the parks have a dress code, and here's what is not allowed in those:

Not permitted in dining room: tank tops, swimming suits or swim suit cover ups, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing of any kind. While t-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics are not acceptable.

So you'll be fine no matter where you go, again, with the exception of V&A's at the Grand Floridian.

I hate seeing hats (generally baseball caps) on guys in restaurants (especialy when they are backwards). Alot do not know they should remove them. My boyfriend has a 19 year old son and we always remind him to take off his hat when we go in a restaurnat. We have been doing this for so many years that by now he knows but it used to be like pulling teeth. That is so much a part of the "uniform" they do not feel like it should be taken off.

If you scroll down it gives you the list of the "signature dining" restaurants which have a business casual dress code. Bistro de Paris is the only restaurant in the parks that has a dress code. Most people don't come to the parks dressed up and I'm sure they don't expect people to have to go back to the resort, change and then come back just for lunch. You're fine just going in the usual jeans and t-shirts to Coral Reef.
