Dress Code

Good Lord.

Here is the dress code taken directly from WDW's web site:

Dinner jacket is required for gentlemen (tie optional) and dress or pants ensemble for ladies.

It doesn't address appropriate footwear, etc., but anyone with common sense should be able to "read between the lines."

Okay, I think there's some confusion here with regards to the phrase "part of the dress code" in comparison with a tie being required. I think the OP is stating that because it is not required it is not part of the dress code, whereas you are pointing out that, as ties are common wear at V&A's AND referenced in the stated dress code they are part of the dress code itself. I think this is just a simple case of people's interpretations of a term or phrase not matching, not a disagreement.

For what it's worth, I'd probably wear a cocktail dress (of the 'little black dress' variety) to V&A's, and I'd probably stick DFiance in a suit and tie.

Bicker, I was just trying to have fun with your choice of words....required versus dress code.

But nonetheless a tie is not required regardless of what you read.

And as our resident V&A expert Uncleromulus has said, the vast majority of men do wear ties.

We've only been maybe 6 times but I thought my DH didn't always wear one himself. But I was obviously wrong as this January he noticed a diner without one and discreetly asked our server if the dress code had changed. The server assured him that the dress code had not changed but that tie had always been optional.

Oh trust me....that won't be hard to do. Especially when I start deleting and changing things....I end up with some stange posts.

But don't you find it ironic that you criticized me for using the same words you had.

I do understand that you are referring to those who are told one thing on the phone and find the actual requirements different but still.... I thought it was funny. However, I am very easily amused.

And luckily, the double standard in dress code is not an issue at V&A in our experience.

And seriously, what you read was incorrect and I did think it important to reiterate what had been said before about tie optional.
