Dress code in Disney World? Ladies please help....

I really have no opinion one way or the other regarding the appropriateness (sp?) of your top. But I did want to make a comment about it's practicality. If it is lace you will be asking for quite a sunburn by the end of the day unless you apply sunblock all over before you put that tank top on!

:rotfl2:

The "fashion police" comments are cracking me up. You would not BELIEVE the things I see in the parks!! A little bra strap is nothing. Nobody would look twice at you. (Not to mention the old argument of "you'll never see these people again") I have seen 300+lbs women wearing bikini tops, women wearing no bra at all, and women wearing such little shirt with so much bra hanging out you wonder why they bothered! All of those are pretty common in the summer.

I'm more concerned about your skin. Make sure you wear your sunscreen and keep putting it on all day! It is easy to burn your back. Have a great time!! :yay:

I see you have kids so my question would be would you feel comfortable wearing this outfit into one of thier schools? Disney's family friendly environment vibe is similar to what you would run into at most public schools so if you feel comfortable wearing it to a school event/function I wouldn't think twice about it.

I was trying to come up with a place to ask if she would feel comfortable wearing it, but was having a hard time. School is perfect.

Except-as a teacher I've seen parents show up in pajamas. One mother dropped her child off and all the mother was wearing was a silky negligee type top, boy-style underwear bottoms and an open robe. I've had a dad wear shorts to show off the tattoo of a naked women that ran from his knee to his ankle.

For most reasonable people, the would you wear it to your child's school is a good test.

Not sure how to phrase this....my style of dress is boho and so I have a boho style tank top that has a lacey top and straps....when wearing a matching-colored bra, the bra somewhat, tastefully, shows through (and only a small portion of it).....nothing revealing at all (as I feel this would be completely inappropriate). Would Disney frown upon this? I'm talking when visiting mostly regular parks...not water parks.

What about a bathing suit top underneath??

This is probably a good gauge as to what is appropriate, but it sounds like you should be fine.

The last time we were there there was a guy in front of us going through the turnstyles at Epcot wearing a t-shirt that said "**** you world, I"m a senior". Security stopped him and told him he needed to buy another shirt to wear, or turn it inside out. He turned it inside out, and they let him in. Whether or not it stayed inside out the whole day, I have no idea. We never saw him again,

Wow, there sure are a lot of differing opinions. I think there is nothing wrong with your bra showing a bit. Much better than not wearing one at all.
Wear what you are comfortable in and something that will keep you cool.
A previous poster suggested wearing a bikini top underneath instead and I really like that idea. In fact, I think I might try that with some of my tanks and stuff this year.

I tend to think that clearly visible bra straps is always a fashion DON'T. That said, it's always very common to see it in Disney (as well as any other public place in the summer). The worst offenders are women who wear a "normal" bra with tops that don't have "normal" straps like tube tops or racerback type shirts. They make strapless and racerback and halter and one shoulder bras all for a reason! That said, if the color matches and you are covered, I'm sure no one will bat an eye.

Just teasing but isn't that your bra straps visibly showing under the strap of your tank top in the photo in your signature? ;) ;)

OP -- as long as you are covered and you aren't wearing a sheer tank over a bra so the bra is exposed I suspect it's OK but I too cannot exactly picture what you are explaining. I've seen a lot more than I've wanted to at WDW; the number 1 recommendation I always make is dress in comfortable clothing that covers your bits with the appropriate amount of modesty for a kid friendly place.

:lmao: I thought the exact same thing. Maybe it is a tank top? But it sure looks like a bra strap so what's the difference? :confused3

I have seen way worse! Wear what is comfy and keeps you cool!

:thumbsup2 I think that if the 'girls' are secure and covered than showing a bra strap isn't really a big deal anymore. Personally I like to keep mine completely covered (just a personal thing) but I've seen exposed bra straps, "whale tails", low hanging booty cheeks and a whole lot of crack at the theme parks.

You didn't say if you'd be wearing boho skirts/dresses too or not. My concern with those would be making sure that when stepping into or out of a ride vehicle that you gather it to make sure you don't trip on it.

With all due respect to Madonna, I've never considered it "tasteful" to show one's bra....:confused3. If you are questioning the appropriateness of an outfit, I think you probably already know the answer, right? :goodvibes

Send me a picture and I will tell you it you are dressed appropraitly!

I agree. If I was going in Aug, I'd be wearing my sports bras (for their wicking) under ribbed tanks, which aren't revealing at all but the top of the bra racerback shows a smidge. Good to know that I'd be offending people. :lmao:

Again, we're not talking bra straps showing- we're talking a see-through top.

There is no "tasteful" way for a bra to show through clothing. It just makes you look like you don't know how to dress yourself.

Are you speaking of a lace trim cami? And I have seen these tank tops at the stores lately that have built in bras. The only thing with these is they have a layered look where you can see the bra! :confused3 I would whip my kids rearends and send those busted butts to boarding school with my Aunt in Sweden if I caught them in clothes like that when they grow up :rotfl: I am a big busted girl and feel that if your straps must show then make them match. Most cami tank tops have straps that look like bra straps anyways so who really notices the difference.

Erm, that's not what you said before. Not a direct quote, but you said something about there never being a reason to have underwear showing in public. Not sure about your underthings, but my bras straps are part of my bra.

Besides, corsets are sometimes considered outerwear these days. I think a little visible bra strap, whether it's along the edge of a shirt or a little see through lacy trim, is more Disney appropriate. Both are more Disney appropriate, IMO, than a LOT of swimsuits. Unless you're planning on just sunbathing, string bikinis could not be less practical for a water park. ;)

Everyone keeps talking about bra straps. The OP said that her bra shows THROUGH the top of this outfit. Not like bra straps sticking out, but the top being SEE through.

Big difference. Everyone has a bra strap slip occasionally, just like sometimes your pants sag and you don't realize it. That's a big difference from wearing transparent clothing.

If I'm misunderstanding the type of top, feel free to correct me, but from the OP it sounds like you can see the bra THROUGH the shirt
