dress code for Victoria and Albert?

just how dressy do we need to go? jackets for men? ties? how about for women?

this dinner would be the only reason we'd bring dressy clothes/shoes on the trip, so i don't want to waste luggage space if we don't need to. on the other hand, i don't want to look like a hobo and will bring suitable clothes if required.

From what I understand jacket and tie are required for men... it's the most upscale restaurant on property, so I would dress accordingly.

V&A's requires men to wear a jacket. My fiancee and I will be there in 23 days. He's going to wear his suit with a collarless shirt, and I'll be wearing a black cocktail gown. A nice pantsuit and a sports jacket would work also.

Men need jackets but ties are not required although some wear them. Women wear anything from nice dresses to cocktail dresses to dressy pants suits. Some people even wear evening dress. When you see the room, you'll be glad you dressed up...it is a very elegant restaurant. Enjoy!

We used to get all dressed up-a suit for Uncleromulus, snazzy dress and heels for Mrs. Uncleromulus.
These days--I wear a blue sport coat, tan slacks. If I find a Disney tie at one of the stores, I'll wear it. If not, just an open collar shirt. Mrs, Uncleromulus now wears a pants suit and flats.

You'll see all sorts of dress at V&A--from tuxedos and formal gowns, to what we now always wear.
We have found over the years that we are much more comfortable in "relaxed" dress up clothes. Plus packing is that much easier too.

I made my DH and DF wear ties with their jackets at V&A and I heard all night how they were the ONLY ones with ties. Geezy, I didn't realizes it was such a touchy subject...I got the spiel "I am on Vaca. and don't wear ties blah, blah."
