We would like to try several nice places for dinner. I was wondering if DH wears a nice pair of jeans, casual shoes and a polo shirt, would that be OK for somewhere like Yachtsman Steakhouse and similar? Or should he wear Dockers?

Direct from Disneyworld.com

Yachtsman Steakhouse

Dress Attire is Business Casual
Men: Dress slacks, jeans, trousers, or dress shorts, short or long-sleeved shirt with a collar required. Jackets are optional.
Ladies: Jeans, skirts, or dress shorts with blouse or sweater, or a dress required.
Not permitted in dining room: tank tops, swimming suits or swim suit cover ups, t-shirts, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing of any kind.

Your hubbie will be fine at the Yachtsman in nice jeans and a polo. That's exactly what DBF wore when we ate there. We ate at several signature restaurants and we always dressed nicely just because we got to have date night every night for a week (!), but I don't know how much Disney enforces their business casual dress code. That being said, I wouldn't show up in bathing suits or anything, but what you mentioned sounds fine.

I'm eating there with my GF. Can I wear Jean shorts? I am going in Sept and it's pretty hot. No biggee either way, just prefer shorts.

TECHNICALLY--no. The term they use is "dress shorts". However--we see jeans shorts all the time at the Signature restaurants (and also gym shorts, cargo shorts, and short-shorts).
The dress code is rarely enforced.

Ready to take the heat but......

IMHO, I think that is kind of a shame that folks don't honor the dress code.:rolleyes1

I know what you are saying but if Disney does not enforce their own codes, then why are the guest to be expected to follow them??? We went to a signature restaurant on the fly a few years back(Before DDP made that now almost impossible) and we saw all types of attire and no one was batting an eye..smjj

The dress code is rarely enforced.

I took me DS to Yachtsman and instructed him to wear a collared shirt (jeans were fine). He complied without complaint. But when a group walked up to get a table dressed in bathing suits and jeans overalls, he turned to me with a pleading look, "Why am I in a collared shirt?"

Well, without delay, the hostess turned them away because of their inappropriate attire! Made my DS feel his effort to dress was well worth it.

We were very happy to see the dress code enforced.

Dress policies are something you must constantly enforce and the goal at Disney is not to have guest dressing in "Business Casual" (which has no standard meaning) but to stop the growing guest trend of people arriving to dine directly from the resort pool. Thus, the actual goal of their dress policy is focused on not permitting guest to dine in tank tops, swimming suits or swim suit cover ups, t-shirts, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing of any kind in the dining room.

No doubt the bathing suits were the cause of that rejection at Yachtsman. Had the party been in T-shirts and cargo shorts, I have little doubt but that they would have gone right on in.

My Wife and I always dress up ( dockers etc. ) when we dine at one of the signature restaurants. We just enjoy getting putting on something other then jeans for the evening.

He can wear shorts if he likes, no problem at all. Jeans are definately fine.

The dress code at those places are recommended..not enforced. The only thing you definately can't wear is swim suits / tank tops. Other than that you are good to go.

Enjoy!
