I need to know if there is a Dress Code for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? My husband (60) and I (52) plan to go and have tons of fun. We are thinking about dressing as a pirates.

I have been told that the dress code policy is:nothing too similar to Characters. You can dress like them but don't try to BE them by signing autographs or posing for pictures. Also nothing with a face mask or anything too scary/graphic.
I think the pirate idea is wonderful. We have seen several pirates at the parties in the past.
The Party is so much fun. Hope you have a wonderful time

Ditto what Robin K said!

Dress up! You've have a blast!

Just also bear in mind the climate and your tolerance for heat/humidity!

I've been 3 times, simple costume the first 2 times, but last year went as Flower pots with my 2 sisters!

Planned our costumes based on the weather, but the only thing we didn't consider (and thankfully it did not happen) was the possibility of rain! We each used a full can of hair colour paint in our hair! That would have been quite scary & messy!

There will be a lot of pirates, but what odds, there'll be a lot of SnowWhites & Cinderellas & Alices, etc as well!

this info came in a letter we got with our MNSSHP tickets

Costumes-

Halloween costumes should NOT:
Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and or transportation systems
Drag on the ground
Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest
Be offensive to other guests
Contain any weapons which resemble o rcould easily be mistaken for an actual weapon

Have a Blast!!

I also thought the costumes could not be too "revealing"? This is a family park right?

We all dressed as pirates before, It was great.

There were PLENTY of young ladies who are quite liberal with this rule considering it is an event at a family park... :sad2:

We have changed our minds...going as old bikers. I will not be "revealing" anything on this body. So there is no problem with that one.

No, Atrain, you don't have to dress up. We didn't last time we went and neither did the kids. We had brought costumes for them, but it was raining when we got there and when it stopped, it was so HUMID that we just couldn't do it. This year, we will probably all go as pirates since we have an appointment at Pirate's League that afternoon.

Definitely be mindful of the heat with the costume that you choose. I wore a knee length/short sleeve Minnie Mouse costume, but it was made of a non-breathable fabric and I was uncomfortably hot in the outfit the entire evening.

Does anybody know if this restriction would include a whip if you went as Indiana Jones?

Thanks...

We plan on going as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia and I'm wondering about carrying our lightsaber and plastic Han Solo gun on the plane. Anyone know the rules? We will be arriving on 10/31 so will need to have costume and accessories in our carry-on (JetBlue).

Unfortunately, I think they'll have to be in checked luggage. TSA gets antsy about anything resembling a weapon, fantasy or not.

DH and I have taken plastic pirate swords, and lightsabers and blasters. All had to be in checked luggage.

If you put it in your checked baggage, don't let the Magical Express deliver it for you. They say it will be thee in 3 hours, but in 4 or 5 trips, I've only had it get to my room in 3 hours once. You can leave off the ME tag and retrieve it yourself.

You can also consider shipping it down to your resort ahead of time. But be careful in how you ship it. USPS does not ship directly to the resort, but goes to a central location that has to be dispersed after that. I shipped 2 packages 1 week prior to our trip and 1 was there when I arrived, the other didn't show up until a couple days after we got there.

I think I've heard maybe UPS goes directly to the resort?

I think that you are right about USPS going to a central location. My son sent us an anniversary gift priority mail (USPS - should take only 3 days at most) to us in care of Pop Century. He sent it on Monday. We checked in on Wednesday - no package, Thursday no package, finally late Friday afternoon the package arrived - it was postmarked Monday so we should have gotten it on Wednesday.
