Dress Code for California Grill?

But not only will they let you in, "business" shorts are on the list of acceptable attire.

I really enjoy CG but find it no different than most of the nice resort restaurants. Why do some think dress should be so different? And why expect more than the restaurant itself does?

I am sure if I lived locally and CG was a date night, I would really dress up for fun. But if I'm going to dinner at a resort restaurant I certainly wouldn't expect everyone else to dress as I prefer to dress.

We do dress nicely for CG but my DH and DS2 wear nice shorts in the summer like most other male guests.

Shorts are absolutely OK. As would be jeans. Tennis shoes and sandels are fine. Not a soul will even care how you are dressed. It will make no difference except to YOU. So dress up if that's what you like, but don;'t dress up just because you think you'll be out of place. I've worn shorts to the CG virtually every time we've dined there and never ever been any sort of a problem. If and when shorts are "out" at a WDW restaurant (except V&A), then that restaurant no longer wants "vacationing family" business.
And as far as I am aware, no one has yet made any connection at CG with how folks are dressed and waiting for the fireworks. The well-heeled can be just as obnoxious as we poor "dressers" in hoarding a table for hours waiting on the fireworks.
