My girlfriend and I have ADRs for CA Grill in a week. We are both stressing a little bit about what to pack/ wear to dinner that night. When we called to make reservations they let us know that they have a business casual dress code. I don't mind getting dressed up for dinner but I'd hate to have to dress nice slacks and shoes for one dinner. Has anyone eaten there that could let me know what they can get away with wearing? I was hoping I could get away with wearing jeans and a nice button up shirt with sandals. Bad idea? Thanks in advance for the advice!

I'll also be going to the California Grill in October and am very interested in the dress code. Right after dinner, I'll be attending MNNSH, so I would rather not get too dressed up. Would Jeans/cargo slacks, a Polo type shirt, and athletic shoes be appropriate?

From http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/dinecg.html

California Grill Dress code:

Business casual - trousers, jeans, dress shorts, blouses, shirts with collars, sweaters.
Not allowed - swimsuits, tank tops, t-shirts, torn clothing, hats, flip-flops.

Some individuals who have visited have also noted sporadic enforcement of the dress policy by staff members of the restaurant. We did not have any issues during our last visit but other have depending on the staff members action or ommission to act.

Overall, it appears as if Disney is wanting to discourage guest from the idea of leaving the pool and going directly up to the restaurant to dine in 'water activity clothing'. Nothing like an individual in a wet swim suite sitting down on a fabric chair.

"Sporadic enforcement" is the key concept.
Jeans, that top and sandals should be just fine. A very recent diner reported flip-flops and T's at CG.

We ate there last week and a considerable amount of people were in tank tops, cut-offs and flipflops which to me(and this is JMHO) is not appropriate for this restaurant. My husband who wears a suit to work every day was happy to see some of the more colorful attire. There were quite a few revealing outfits on the women. One example was the 30ish, attractive woman who had a certain private area wax and the low slung skirt to prove it. This "bikini style" bottom half was matched with a strapless silver lame bra top that showed off her recent surgery to a prime advantage. It was a hoot!! The meal was very good as usual and I'm sure you'll have a great time. Threehearts

That was they way it was when we went. They seemed so out of place and dirty (right out of the parks). Most people, however, made a point to come back from the parks, shower, and dress nicely.

We have an ADR at CG at the end of this month. What do you think they mean by "dress shorts?" Do you think that my husband would be okay wearing khaki shorts and a short sleaved, button down collared shirt? If it makes any difference, we have a very early (5:30pm) ADR.

Thanks!

That sounds fine. Usually dress shorts does NOT include "Cargo" shorts but I'd bet that would be fine also. They are just trying to "class up" the joint a little by stating this. I'd bet they don't enforce it too often.

I ate at CG last night and I did see some diners wearing "park attire". The majority though were dressed "neatly" in nice shorts, collared shirts, tees, etc. I personally wore white jeans, tee shirt with a sweater tied over my shoulders. Oh, and I wore "dressy" flip flops! No one looked at my feet when I checked in!

We wear shorts (I wear capris) and a collared polo shirt. This attire is also appropriate for the parks. I think it adds to the dining experience.
