It was good......but it didn't knock our socks off. We won't be heading back too soon, given some of the other options available. We enjoyed Citiricos and Narcoossee's more, and would definitely try California Grill, Artist's Point or Flying Fish before we go back to Yachtsman's.
The service was fine. The atmosphere, as you know, is elegant. The food was good, but not great. We both had the chilled seafood salad for an appetizer. It was good, but not memorable. My daughter had the calarmari. Again, good...but not something to go back for. My wife and daughter had the filet. The piece of meat was very good, very tender, with a good sauce, although not that much of it. It was cooked perfectly. What didn't impress us were the sides. The filet came with a heap of average mashed potatoes. My meal was a little more disappointing, although I'm not sure if it was the cut, or the butchering. I had the Australian Wagyu loin. As the waiter described, similar to a NY strip, but with a high marbelization factor and fat content. While my steak was a little undercooked, I can deal with that as I can do rare. What I could eat was actually very tender for a strip, and had great flavor. However, there was a lot of fat, not marbelization, running through the piece of meat that made it a little difficult to eat. Also, on one side of the steak was a good inch of inedible fat that I left on the plate. Had to be two of the 10 ounces. So my foray into expensive foreign beef was a little disappointing. Also, the truffle mashed potatoes that cam with my meal were underwhelming as well. The deserts were good, as was the coffee.
All in all it was a good experience, but not one that left us raring to go back all that quickly.
