just have not been in a couple of years and i know when we went before there was

No bathing suits, tank tops, cut offs, torn clothes or flip flops is about the extent of the code. We ate there last week in nice jeans and a sweater.

and how was it? the reason we have not gone in a couple of years is the last time was the worst meal ever in WDW in over a dozen visits.

It was good......but it didn't knock our socks off. We won't be heading back too soon, given some of the other options available. We enjoyed Citiricos and Narcoossee's more, and would definitely try California Grill, Artist's Point or Flying Fish before we go back to Yachtsman's.

The service was fine. The atmosphere, as you know, is elegant. The food was good, but not great. We both had the chilled seafood salad for an appetizer. It was good, but not memorable. My daughter had the calarmari. Again, good...but not something to go back for. My wife and daughter had the filet. The piece of meat was very good, very tender, with a good sauce, although not that much of it. It was cooked perfectly. What didn't impress us were the sides. The filet came with a heap of average mashed potatoes. My meal was a little more disappointing, although I'm not sure if it was the cut, or the butchering. I had the Australian Wagyu loin. As the waiter described, similar to a NY strip, but with a high marbelization factor and fat content. While my steak was a little undercooked, I can deal with that as I can do rare. What I could eat was actually very tender for a strip, and had great flavor. However, there was a lot of fat, not marbelization, running through the piece of meat that made it a little difficult to eat. Also, on one side of the steak was a good inch of inedible fat that I left on the plate. Had to be two of the 10 ounces. So my foray into expensive foreign beef was a little disappointing. Also, the truffle mashed potatoes that cam with my meal were underwhelming as well. The deserts were good, as was the coffee.

All in all it was a good experience, but not one that left us raring to go back all that quickly.

The Yachtsman is our favorite restaurant for Special Dinners. The steaks are hand cut daily and the food is prepared fresh daily. All of our steaks have always come out as ordered, the rolls are awesome as are the gratin potatoes very flavorful.

We order special birthday cakes also and they have a awesome pastry team!! We always try to find an occasion to go to this restaurant during our 6-8 trips a year.

I have friends who ask if we can have our dinner there when i'm scheduling ADR's. The restaurant has improved over the last couple of years I'm sure that is due to staffing changes.

All in all a restaurant we highly recommend to people who want a great meal with a great atmosphere and service.

The Yachtsmens Steakhouse is one of only 2 restaurants at WDW that we won't return to (the other is H & V at the DHS).
Althought the setting is truly elegant and the service is wonderful, after 3 attempts we have just found the food to be not good. I agree the rolls are delicious, but on our last trip that was the only thing I enjoyed. I agree with the PP about the sides, they were very disappointing. On our last trip not one of us (3 adults) enjoyed our meal at all.
I know I am in the minority here, but this is our opinion.
