Dress Code at Signature Restaurants-Ha!

Honestly, it's not much of a dress code.

I admit that I don't understand when posters object to the fact that some want to wear jeans and tee shirts when Disney says jeans and tee shirts are allowed.

But how many people go back to the hotel to shower before dinner, I don't think many do

We do, especially if we are eating in one of the nicer restaurants. How else could we change into our "proper attire". My kids have been going to WDW for 9 years, several times a year. They would feel out of place if they didn't have on a polo shirt in the Flying Fish or Cali Grill.

What do you expect Disney World to do? Tell that guest they can't eat there? Send them back to their resort to change? Make them give up their reservation?

And then what would that guest and their entire party do? Not eat there and probably not eat at another Disney World restaurant their entire stay. And probably not even bother to come back to Disney World ever again.

Just like any other reputable establishment you tell them if you want to dine here then you need to wear business casual. IT's really that simple.

Or no money... I scrimp and save all year so that I can go on one decent vacation a year. I don't have a lot of money to spend on clothes... we're foodies so we like nice restaurants. I can afford to take one nice vacation a year and eat at nice restaurants when we go, or I can have nice clothes - I can't have both.

Exactly! I don't know how many times we have had the same experience at various restaurants on property. Some people have no class......

Ummm, what exactly do you do for a living that you dont even have casual business attire but can afford an expensive vacation each year?

Honestly, I dont buy the 'too poor to afford slacks' but can afford expensive vacation line. I mean it doesnt have to come from Macey's, Wal-Mart has $10 dress pants, same price as their sweats.

I'm a stay at home housewife because of disabilities that prevent me from working. My wife has a work wardrobe.

In order to afford the expensive vacation we put aside every penny that I don't need for monthly bills.

As for Wal Mart's Ten dollar clothing - they don't make it for people of my size... and the clothes I do have were gifts from my mom before she had the heart attack and lost the ability to work as a nurse... since that she's worse off then we are.

I can afford one or the other - I can't afford both.

When I die I don't get to take my nice clothes with me... I get to take my memories with me. When I die I wont lay on my death bed and regret my lack of wardrobe... I would lie on my deathbed and mourn a lack of memories and experiences.

That said the actual dress code has been posted repeatedly and sweat pants are not on either list.

fey spririt -- DH often wears sweat pants and sweat shirt to the signature restaurants. They are always neat, clean and well fitted. No problem at all. Wear what you want and enjoy your vacation.

Sorry but regardless of my personal feelings about what should be and shouldn't be Disney's dress code, I don't see ANYWHERE where sweatpants fit the current code. If you can't even follow the dress code, that is given to you in advance, you shouldn't be admitted to the restaurant. It would be the same if you showed up to V&A with kids...they aren't allowed in, no exceptions.

Sorry, but using a 'strawman' argument to justify why you wont meet the dress code is simply 'bad form.' Wal Mart, Burlington, Sears, Penny's, Target heck even good will all have big and tall sections that are extremely cheap.

Its absolutely incomprehensable to make a case that you live on such an extremely tight budget 365 days a year that owning a pair of slacks and a dress shirt are a 'budget buster' but a routine vacation that most folks cant do more than once in a lifetime somehow works into your lifestyle.

Fey I am not trying to pick on you, but find your reasoning either seriously flawed or intellectually dishonest.

A couple of years ago we watched the parents of a teenager have to buy their kid a shirt or leave the Magic Kingdom. It seems that his shirt had a bad word on it. The staff was very discreet, even apologetic but completely oblivious to the parents objections about free speech. The kid remained over by the stroller check in while dad went to buy a shirt. I never did get to see what the bad word was but mom said a few more while waiting for the dad to get back with the shirt.

When we go to the parks or out to eat we like to look good. Jeans are for when we are playing.

OK......well here is the thing, as this is now turning into a debate on what is or is not appropriate to wear into signature restaurants (a dress code that should be enforced by Disney and not the posters on the Dis) I am now locking this thread.

There has been enough discussion on this matter and when one poster has to justify her income to justify what she wears to WDW restaurants, well I think that is enough..
