Hi, Are there any restaurants that are strict about footwear?

I have 2 points to clarify:

1. I had my foot crushed by a horse when i was 16 and still 9 years later i still have issues with footwear,

I found last year that when I was in WDW it was very dificult for me to wear closed in shoes due to my foot swelling up, I could only wear flipflops.

I would hate to be turned away from a reservation because i can't walk in anything else,

Would they let me in ? would it be classed as a medical issue and they'd overlook it?

And

2. My husband has Cerebal Palsy, and has to wear large plastic leg splints , the only shoes he can wear are trainers/sneakers .
He has a black pair he wears for weddings funerals etc. but we cannot get dress shoes on him.
Most of the time in WDW he doesn't wear shoes as he is in his chair and his legs get too hot but obviously no shoes in a restaurant would be less favourable than trainers i presume?

Hope someone can help , as would hate not to be able to experience a Signature Dining Restaurant.

To be honest, i wore flip flops once at a signature....I left the resort in flip flops and totally forgot. (for the record, they werent the typical beach flip flops, they were quite nice). I got in without any issues at all. I think you'll be fine.

Thong sandals are absolutely acceptable. They are likely referring to rubber flipflops or those meant to be worn to the pool. I would wear them if they don't look like pool shoes.

Sneakers or tennis shoes (I believe that's "trainers" in British) are definitely allowed. Dress shoes are not necessary.

If you're planning on Victoria & Albert's you may have to call them, but fancy sandals would be fine there too.

Flip flops are fine.. that is all I pack and we eat at signature's every night.. not at V&A though

I wore flip flops (and a skirt!!) to Yachtsman in June and in comparison to some of the folks there was I was WAY over dressed!! My boys and DH wore khaki shorts and polo shirts and sneakers and were fine!

then I looked around and noticed quite a few families who looked like they had just walked in from the park and were wearing ratty t-shirts and sweat shorts....

We ate a 2 signatures this past June and was totally comfortable with my decision to wear a skirt and flips flops and my boys in khaki shorts & polo shirts...it was incredible to see what some folks wore to those dinners....

Have a great dinner!!

I wear my Croc flip flops to every restaurant (including signatures) with no issues whatsoever. They're the only shoes I bring along for the whole trip. They may not match all of my outfits but I would rather have comfy feet than care what complete strangers think about my footwear :)

As all the others have said, you'll be just fine.

And to note that footwear--as such--isn't even mentioned in the dress "code" for Signature restaurants.

Hi, Are there any restaurants that are strict about footwear?

As others have said, it shouldn't be a problem. The dress "code" (more like guidelines, except at V&A) isn't really that strict and there isn't anything about footwear.

Dress Code Guidelines:
Men: Khakis, slacks, jeans, dress shorts, collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.
Ladies: Capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, dress shorts.
Not permitted in dining room: Tank tops, swimwear, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing. While T-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that T-shirts with offensive language or graphics are not acceptable.

...no shoes in a restaurant would be less favourable than trainers i presume?

I've worn sneakers (nice, clean ones) to various Sigs throughout the resorts before and never had any problems.

I agree with the others. If you don't appear as though you just came from the pool, you'll likely be ok. Of course any effort to spruce up just a bit is appreciated at the sigs.:earsboy:

There were a few occasions when we went straight from the park to a sig and I had my fitflops on. No one paid any attention to my footwear, nor did they tell me I couldn't dine there. I think you will be perfectly fine.

I agree with the PPs. I have seen everything from cutoff jeans shorts and man-tanks to nicer clothes like khakis and Polos etc at Signatures.

I think that the only restaurant that cares is V&A's and even then if you sent them an email I'm sure that they would allow you in.

1) Don't worry about flip-flops.
2) Actually, don't worry about anything.
3) Signature Dining used to be upscale and had a dress code.
4) Now, they no longer enforce the dress code (except at V&A).
5) DDP let's too many folks in, and Disney likes the business. *
6) They won't let a little thing like dress code halt the revenue.

* With the advent of DDP, people who don't know how to act at
fine dining now attend. You get noisy kids, uncouth adults, and
a noisy environment. Oh, for the days before DDP when the
Signature eateries meant refinement. (IMHO)

I wore flipflops to Citricos and not a word was said. They were nicer flipflops and I was wearing capris and a blouse. As far as the sneakers or trainers, that won't be a problem either.

You will be just fine in flip flops and your Dh in his trainers :)

I personally love to dress up to go to dinner "even in the parks i will go back for and evening TS and change to a nicer outfit" and If my feet are hurting then i will wear my cuter flip flops and feel just fine! I just make sure the rest of me looks like i would like to see others I.E not a dirty ripped tshirt or ripped jeans etc :thumbsup2

P.s I seen you come from Cornwall I come from Newquay and still have a house their that i rent out, I only live in the place i do now due to Dh being in the military.....Oh how I miss Cornwall :sad1:

Thankyou everyone one for your replies, you have put my mind at ease.

Hi Tinkerpea, I love living in Cornwall too, off to Newquay today actually , in the typical Cornish summer weather, (raining cats and dogs )

I like to think one perk of living in Cornwall is we are a little bit closer to Disney than anyone else in England :) Lol
