For anyone who has been to Jiko recently regarding the dress code....everything I have says that "business casual" dress is required, which is fine but I was just wondering....

I've read on other threads that they really don't enforce the dress code too strictly.... If my DBF is wearing khaki shorts and a polo with sneakers, would that be acceptable?

yes

Great! Thank you! I was concerned about sneakers not being acceptable!

This sounds right in line with what DH has worn to Jiko on all four of our trips there. He only brings sneakers and sandals on vacation.

Footwear isn't even mentioned in the dress code---

I've read in a few different places that flip-flops specifically are not allowed but nothing else was mentioned. :confused3 I just wanted to make sure they wouldn't make a fuss over sneakers! That would be quite embarassing!

OK good! This makes me feel better! :goodvibes

I walked up to the hostess station on my way back from the parks to inquire about getting a table that evening, wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. She said she could seat us immediately, and I said that I'd need to change first. She insisted I was fine the way I was.

I insisted on changing, and still found that most people in the dining room were dressed better than me.

So, you can get by with anything, but if you're not going to dress to a certain level, you may not feel comfortable there.

I wore a red knit dress with sandals, simple but cute. The dress is actually my swimsuit coverup this summer! DH wore khaki shorts that are nicer than the ones he wears in the parks, top-sider shoes and a casual button up shirt. We felt totally comfortable. There were people that looked like they had just gotten back from the parks and some who were dressed like they were on the way to a club. It's Disney, it's all good!!!

My boyfriend and I were there in May. He wore an oxford with corduroy pants, I wore a skirt and top with a sweater. He was worried they wouldn't let him in because he didn't have a belt. During the course of dinner we saw people eating dressed in basketball shorts and tee shirts.

Believe me, you guys will be fine. And the food is delish!

Simba22: Flip-flops are not mentioned at all in the dress code. Possible that some see them as an extension of "swimwear"??
I certainly wouldn't wear those .99 pool stlye rubber flip-flops to a Signature restaurant--but a few folks do.

They will ask you to remove your hat at Jiko, but I haven't seen any other dress code enforcements in my 3 or 4 times eating there.

I read the thing about flip-flops in The Passporter. Maybe that's an old guideline and the authors just haven't updated it... Thanks for the info, though! Glad I don't have to bring an entirely separate outfit with us!

Howdy, neighbor! (we're in CT, too!)
My BF is ex-military so the hat comes off indoors anyway out of habit! :goodvibes
