dreams unlimited or small world vacations

You're right, and it's not meant to sound like I'm unappreciative of these boards. I am actually very appreciative, they are very helpful. I was just stating my opinion which is that when someone asks about a TA, why does DU have to run a commercial? They are all over the boards--they're theirs!!! Many people are happy with them which is great, and they post on their behalf. Just as others are happy with other agencies. Whenever anyone says something other than DU, someone jumps in with their "you should support the board and go with DU" and it's said in a guilt trip type of manner, and for fear of getting flamed I won't say how that may come across.

I think it's great that they don't choose to delete those posts that make mention of other agencies. It makes the DIS an even better community. But again, if members are going to be made to feel bad with the hounding of using DU because they run the boards, that is no different necessarily than deleting.

Just because I'm a happy Small World customer, don't take it as though I am trying to diss DU. I certainly am not, they are very reputable--one of the best I'd bet--and you will find many happy with their services. I'm just pointing out what goes on on these boards, and it's not just with DU. It's on the transportation board too--using the sponsor. I understand how advertising works because I"m in it ;) But what is being advertised in any market has to be something that appeals to me. I needed someone on the other end of a telephone, that wasn't offered, and I made a choice. With the resort board, S/D is the sponsor right? Well if I was trying to post about what resort for me and everytime someone jumped in and said "Stay at Swan and Dolphin because they sponsor these boards and you should support the sponsor" even though it doesn't offer the theming, price or amenities I am looking for, it is frustrating. I'm really just pointing out my observations and opinions. Nobody has to agree, just my .02.

I think you do have to look at supporting people who do things for you.

I agree with this, which is why I am supporting the agency I had such good results with! :) and also the reason why so many DU supporters are giving their praise too!

That is NOT true on some other boards. If you mention a vendor other then the sponsor on some internet boards your post is deleted. (And one of those boards used to be sponsored by Small World!)

OK, now I am confused. Like I said previously, I am a very happy client of Small World Vacations.

What board do they sponsor? I was unaware that they were affiliated with any board.

Since when are people measured on the DIS by how many posts they have?????

If someone asks for advice, it's open for anyone with an opinion and feels they have some thing to contribute to the group.

My husband likes to read the boards, but rarely posts, me I like to get involved in conversations, ask people's opinions, I wouldn't judge a post by the number on the left, but by the quality of the response.

I'm sorry!!!!!!! I didn't realize people who didn't use dreams unlimited couldn't post about another board???????? I actually found these boards on a sheet that smallworld included with their material....it had a list of websites that were good for information and this was one of them. They have been so nice and when i saw something about them not making ps's, i didnt want anyone else to be mislead :confused3

How did you get PS reservations done by small world? For my trip to the WL I booked a room-only with them and I asked twice if they did the PS's for me and she said No both times. She is very nice and knowledgeable but told me that I have to do the PS reservations myself. I did a room only reservation with them.

Were there people that got PS done through them buying a PACKAGE? Maybe they do it for packages only and not for room-only reservations.

Thanks
Eric

We used Small World for our trip in two weeks and our agent did PS's for us and we only had a room-only reservation. Maybe it depends on the travel agent -- I'm not sure of the Dreams Unlimited, but with Small World, you're 'assigned' a travel agent based upon where you live.

The boards I mentioned have gone away

I do think Small World sponors some website, but which one escapes me. (I know it is not AllEars, maybe targel.com?)

Small World Travel is affiliated with Mousesavers.com

BWGirl,
No, the nice thing about the DIS is you don't have to use the sponsors. However, they don't have to keep the boards free either. I am sorry that you consider advertising to be bad, but that is the way things work on these boards. The nice thing about here is that your posts on other agenices are not just removed. That is NOT true on some other boards. If you mention a vendor other then the sponsor on some internet boards your post is deleted. (And one of those boards used to be sponsored by Small World!)

Small World has a message board? Really? Where? I'd like to check it out.

The travel agency you are thinking of is not Small World Vacations. I know the board you are referring to.

My last two trips I used Small World. They are vey nice but as stated before, a little slow on return e-mails and they never tried to get me any better rates, codes or any discounts. I now know about the discounts and codes that I could have gotten but was never offered. I will use Sue Ellen with DU next time. Oh well, that's how you learn. :wizard:

Are you sure there was one for your dates or resort? Sometimes it's just not available. I have found that just booking myself where certain dates / resorts were not available.

Well evidently it depends pn WHO your TA is at small world-- I was planning to book with Small World and I was told they do PS only for people on the dining plan-- This was Kim at Small world and was just a few days ago. The tone of letter she sent me seemed a bit like I was bugging her, so, I decided my business is going elsewhere. But-- like any other business I am sure there are some TA's who will go the extra mile for a client and some who dont.

You are right Katiesmommy...you're going to find good and bad no matter where you go when it comes to customer service. I've personally been well pleased with my agent and have recommended her to several of my co-workers. She's been so nice.
