"Dream Weavers" September 1, 2011

Hey all! We will be on this cruise...myself, DH, and DS (1). Still not sure if we want to do the fish extenders yet or not. Is there a cutoff date for us to decide?

Welcome aboard. We have a private facebook page, so if you are on f/b come on over (link in the first post). Introduce yourself and your group. We are getting very excited!

thinking we'll cut off the FE list probably 6 weeks to a month out. I know some people make last minute cruising plans.

I have to do my shopping the first half of July, 'cause I leave home on the 20th.

Debbie, we'll have to cut it off before you leave home then. If someone comes along after that, we'll play it by ear.

How about July 10th, does that work for you. If someone wants to join after that, we can just let them know that some have order or made something personal that can't be added too. No biggie. We only had it happen once on our cruise last time and honestly, the person who objected to the last minute add, ended up canceling (due to the hurricanes) and joined another thread and wanted to 'join' their FE a week before sailing.

I try to make everyone happy.

Got you Jennifer (do you go Jen)?

Thanks! I go by Jeni, but Hey You! generally works too. ;) I just saw your gang did the Half in 2011. Awesome! Love your TR. Chad and I are signed up for the 2012 WDW Half. Hope to see you there!

Hey Jeni (I'll change the first post); We did the 1/2 in 2010 and the full in 2011!!! (I kind of slipped on my TR's); So worth it (even with the extreme conditions we had in 2010) we loved it. Our dd is due to graduate the weekend of the marathon so we are out for 2012. You'll be hooked once you do a Disney race. The entertainment, excitement and just people cheering you on is amazing!

You certainly are doing a marvelous job as hostess!:flower3: July 10th is very convenient for me, actually, but I hope I am not making things difficult. I will have access to a computer for my first 10 days in the States, at least, and if all goes well I will have a brand new refurbished ;) tablet computer to keep me somewhat connected to the world whereever I find free wi-fi. My point being: If new people come in I am sure that I will be able to scrape something together!:thumbsup2

Thanks for everything!:goodvibes

Debbie, not difficult at all hon. It's good to set a cut off. Like I said, if people join closer to sail date, we'll play it by ear.

I know not everyone on the list is on the facebook group. If you'd like to join us, the link is in the first post. If you are going to be participating in the Fish Extender exchange, please post here asap (if I don't have you already on the list on page one).

Even if you aren't going to participate in the FE, we still want to get to meet you. Please post your info (your name if not in your post) and those traveling with you. We will plan a meet up as it gets closer.

Getting so ready for this cruise!!!! (especially right now while I should be doing Psych homework).

July 10 is good! I should have time to at least decide how organized I can be by that date. Never participated officially before (have a FE from MIL that she kept filled). We might consider it, sounds fun, if I can get find time to plan ahead:goodvibes

No problem at all. I haven't even started thinking about it. Our last cruise, I made paper bag scrap books for each cabin and then lots of other things for the kids and grown ups. It ended up being a lot more work than I had anticipated. Since I'm now going to college and working, I'm going to be shopping I'm sure.

Hi, This is my 15th cruise, but my first Disney cruise. It'll be me, my husband, 8yo dd & 4yo ds. I haven't read through the entire thread but the Fish Extender exchange sounds fun. How does it work?

Hi Deealee and welcome! Glad to have you with us! The Disney cruise ships have a fish (or seahorse or starfish) by each stateroom door which they use to clip 'mail' onto. A fish 'extender' is any sort of hanging pocket that is hung on the fish. Those who participate in the exchange leave assorted 'goodies' for the others in the pockets. There is an awesome thread that explains the whole thing in exhaustive detail, and Pat knows the link to it. :cutie: Some people stress over the gift they give, but I think it is less about the gift and more about the fun of it all.

HTH!

See you in September!

I realize we are running out of time to get passports, but I am still confused as to if we need them. We are not flying, although I understand we would need them in the event we need to fly home from the Bahamas.

Disney's cruise website implies that adults and children need a passport or passport card, but the State Department says that all passengers on closed loop cruises only need a birth certificate. Does anyone know if we can travel without a passport? Or, if the adults end up getting them, are they required for children?

Thanks!!

No, you do not legally have to have one YET. You do have to have a certified copy of your birth certificate then. It must have the raised seal (so not a photo copy).

My daughter did her passport in early March and it took just under three weeks. Our son did his two weeks ago this past Tuesday, so hoping his comes next week sometime. this was without paying the extra for rushing it. Not necessary.

We got them for the 'just in case'. And we hope that we'll get to use them further away some day :)

Dee, Sorry I missed you joining our group. Welcome aboard. We have a great group on f/b if you want to come on over (link on first page). Is your name Dee? I want to add you and your family to the first post.

Ooh, thank you so much! That makes me feel much better! We might get them just to have them, but it's nice to know we probably won't need to expedite it. Ahhh, such a relief!
