We have Comcast in our area (On Demand) and the other day my sister pointed out that on the bottom of the tv guide menu was something titled "Disney Dreams". When we opened it up there was a short video of how the DT makes their selections for prizes. Apparently, the DT members are given a schedule early in the morning that will say "Dumbo ride, 11:00a, Elephant #4, Back row, Passenger 2)". The DT will then go to the Dumbo ride at the predetermined time and gift the passenger who was in the right seat at the right time. I'm not sure what happens if there's not actually someone there on the ride because they didn't mention that. I thought it was a totally random process before I saw that video. It's just a matter of luck!! Pretty cool!! - Nancy

? It IS a totally random process just as you described. A computer program completely, randomly selects the rides, time, seat #, etc and the dream team member just goes and executes the random assignment. What you THOUGHT happened (dream team just picks at their choosing) wouldn't be random at all and would be filled with all kinds of personal biases, preferences & unfairnes..

I personally like the idea of a computer doing the picking. Seems more fair to me.

That's all cool except when it's not a ride / attraction or anything like that. I've also heard that they are basically told via radio when to give certain things away also..

I have gotten a Dream twice and both times they were from CMs who weren't standing in the "normal" walking path. They were both off to the side down a walkway that was less crowded and kind of hidden. Dont know if that helps anyone but its something to be on the look out for. We didn't go hunting for them but made a effort to walk on those walkways.

The way it was explained to me was that the team was given spots and instructions such as "the fifth family to walk past the water fountain..." which also is in line with the instructions theory at the beginning of the day.

I've moved this thread to the Year of A Million Dreams board. :)

We didnt win anything, but met a family at a restaurant that had won dream ears. They were talking to the DVC people in Downtown Disney when they won. I think it's totally a random selection process because these people felt like they were just in the right place at the right time.

While I know the dreams are random, or some seem that way anyways, I'm curious how often it's families that win verses couples or singles. My DBF and I are going and we'd like to experience some extra magic - But it feels like the odds are against us if we don't have little ones with us!

Have you heard of many Couples or Singles winning Dreams?

DH and I were "dreamed" while waiting for the Voices of Liberty to perform at the American Pavilion in Epcot. We were approached by one of the CMs who, after some small talk, asked if we'd like to be the "first family". A few minutes later, our kids joined us for a special viewing spot (upstairs, front & center) for the Voices of Liberty and our pick of seats for the show. But, it was originally just the two of us. Granted - it wasn't dream fast passes but we were thrilled - it made our trip all the more special! :wizard:

I think they also have some liberty in creating special, unique dreams as well. The Dream care pacakge that the DS created for my DH was clearly not a planned thing, but rather they had a great, unique idea/situation and made something work.

When we won Dream FPs that was obviously random, but there has to be more to it than that as evidenced by the dream for my DH.

Regardless, I would really love to have their job! I don't think life could get much better than making peoples' days each and every day! :)

Thanks for the replies! I certainly hope that they are picked by 'person' and not by family. While I'm not really expecting us to win anything or would be disappointed if we don't, the chance of having something extra special is very nice! My DBF and I live in different states and we don't get a lot of time to spend much time together - let alone in Disney!

We've gotten dreamed twice. Both times we were two adult females, without children with us. Both times in MK. Once we just walking down Main Street and the other was during last year's MVMCP walking past Splash Mountain. Both gifts were a YOMD pin which I love. Kept one and gave one to DSis. Nice additions to our pin collections ...

me and my dd got dreamed in epcot last october - we were walking from journey into imagination towards ws - actually we were lost - and the dream team was just standing there handing out fast passes to anyone who came along - we actually didnt spot them the older couple in front of us told us about them so me and my dd went running over to them - the dt was laughing as they handed up our fp

Just back from the World yesterday! We had a long-ish conversation with a dreams team cm in Tomorrowland which was very interesting. What he told us about how the dreams giveaways work is consistent wiht what others have written on this thread about the randomness of it all. He told us he doesn't really "pick" the winners, just carries out the instructions as they are given to him. He said he reports to work and is told what he will be giving out that day, etc. He didn't specifically give us details about it being randomly computer generated (tho that makes sense) but he definitely indicated that he himself as a front line person didn't have much control if any, over who won what, when or where.

Our talk with this guy was fascinating. He told us about awarding people with the castle stay and how amazing it was to give away a prize like that.:goodvibes

It's totally random.

Our neighbors won the castle stay because one of them was sitting in a particular spot on a particular ride at a certain time (as in 9:34 a.m.). They told me they had to sign a statement that they indeed were there at that time. It was very very specific.

Last month, we won dream FPs at DHS because we were waiting to go into the Animation tour at a certain time. We were waiting for a few minutes for the next show to start, and then all of a sudden out of nowhere I saw two dream team CMs passing out the passes. No one could have "found" them because they just were there after we'd been waiting.

We also later that day got to hang out with a dream team CM who spent about an hour with us, but he picked us out because I was with two of my kids looking confused in the middle of the street at DHS. That was the best part because my kids loved him. But hanging out with a CM is not a true Dream in the giveaway sense of it all, though for my kids, that was almost as cool as the Dream FPs.
