Has anyone booked this or looked at this deal? I started reading about it on Mary's site. Also there's the 'silver' plan you can add to this....is this worth the extra money? (how much extra is it anyway???) ANY opinions would be MOST appreciated!!! Thanks :)

The general consensus is that it is NOT a good deal - and you would do better to book each thing separately..

Take a look over on the Resorts board - there are several discussions about it's value - or "non"value posted there..

It really depends on your needs and plans! For some people it's a great buy; for others it stinks.

I've been hearing from people all day who already had packages booked. By rebooking with the new package, they are in many cases saving hundreds of dollars. So for someone who WANTS a package, it's very worthwhile.

It's an especially good deal if you plan to stay in a Deluxe resort. For instance, someone got the Grand Floridian Lagoon View, one week stay in early December, 2 adults for $2674, and I believe that included tax. Rack rate for the hotel room alone would be $2800 plus 11.5% tax. Since the package also includes tickets, this is a great deal for them. They could not do better by purchasing the separate components, even with AAA or Disney Club discount on the room.

On the other hand, if you have Annual Passes or leftover days on a Park Hopper, or if you don't plan to spend a lot of time in the parks, it isn't a good deal for you.

The best idea is to figure out exactly what you want to do, where you want to stay, etc. Then get out your calculator and figure out how much the various options would cost purchased separately, vs the cost of a package. It may take an hour or two of your time, but considering how much money is at stake, I think it's worthwhile to do the research.

Wow, Mary herself - I do feel special. :)

Thank you both for the info. I found the threads on the Resorts Board, and general concensus says no. Plus DB says he wants to go to IOA or he's not going! And usually I DON'T spend the last day of my trip in the parks, maybe just a resort for a character breakfast....so maybe not such a good deal.... I'll keep investigating.....

I just booked the package for my sister and me for our trip in Feb.
for 7 nights. We are paying $1394.08 for POR, this is without insurance. I am happy with the price and the fact that I don't have to worry about passes. The FTP was better though, but this is okay.

i got a quote for the same plan for early Dec for 2 AtPOR for $1990.00. what gives...is the value season not always the same "value" or what. did you have some other kind of discounts? I am trying to figure out why every quote I get(passwords or not) is the same i can get from disney online. Help!!!!!!

Jann, is your quote for the standard or preferred rooom? Maybe that's the difference in your quote and LindaMary's.

standard since I kind of like peace and quiet after the parks. I think it was the exact same price i had gotten on line at disney altough now I can't find either print out( naturally)

Yes I had a standard room also. I do have the Disney Club but I was told I couldn't use it on this since the DC ends at the end of Dec. This does not include anything else like insurance or transfers.

Hope you get a better deal!
Linda

Asked for a quote for three nights at AKL in December and because one night fell in the blackout period the quote was almost $1900 since it didn't qualify for the winter magic package. If I could change the dates for check in and out one day earlier the package came to $933. Can't change the dates so will have to look elsewhere. In this case the package would have been a great deal since I was told I could get the package by checking in one day earlier and then adding the extra night at over $400 a night and get the 5 nights for less than the original 3.

i book the package for 5 nights at port orleans it was 1066. that gives me 6 days park admission...the last night ill book seperatly..online it booked at 1158..so it might be cheaper to call than book online..i had only room reservations at first for 746.00 so passes only cost 322.00 more..so its not a bad deal...mike
