Dream July 27, 2012 5 night

I have enough to cover one more cabin, so for me, it is definitely "speak now, or forever hold your peace!!" :)

Is wondering as a newbie if anyone has any advice for a first time family aboard the Dream. Myself, DH, DS7 (we will be celebration his 7th birthday abord the ship), and DD4 are all super excited to go!!! Getting close!!!:)

I'm overwhelmed because I keep reading all of the wonderful planning you all do so very far in advance for your vacations. We booked about 30 days ago.....(stress!!!!!!) I feel very much like a fish out of water.
As DVC members we travel to WDW quite often, but have never cruised with DCL before. I know nothing except I love Disney with every bit of my being!!! (DH thinks I'm a nut, and I've turned my children into mini-me's with all things Disney)
We booked a VGT cat, and are still awaiting stateroom placement.
I found such amazing info on here about what to pack, things I would have never thought of like a power strip, air freshener for the BR, pop up hamper, etc!!! Awesome tips!!!!
Wishing you all wonderful upcoming trips, and am so grateful I joined this group!
Any advice appreciated!!!!

I called DCL to ask about what movies will be playing onboard. CM noted that they are all subject to change but currently the list is: Cars 2, The Muppets, People Like Us, Chimpanzee, Avengers, Brave in 2D, Brave in 3D.

:thumbsup2 Awesome, thanks! (really, Muppets? still?)

For the newbies, there is a post on the main board which talks about "tips that DCL doesn't tell you about" or something like that. It is a 30 page of small tips and "secrets".

We are going on our very first Disney cruise in 2 weeks! 7/27 Dream. I cannot wait. Any tips you can share would be GREATLY appreciated! We want to relax & have fun but this is also our first vacation in 3 years so we want to make the most of it!

I think a big difference in what kind of advice you need depends on if you are Disney people! For example, i see a lot of people saying, skip the shows, the rest of the ship is less crowded! I would never do that, I love the Disney shows and how Disney they are! I am an adult but I will stand in line to meet characters, and I love the pirate party. So, if you are a disneyfile like I am, try to do as much of the scheduled entertainment as you can, it's great!

Hello!! We will be on the 7/27 Dream 5 day cruise! It's 3 of us. This is our 1st DC and I just found out about this board. This is our 1st vacation in almost 3 years so we are VERY excited!! :cool1:
The cruise falls right b/w our 12th anniversary & my daughter's 10th bday so I'm sure we'll be celebrating while on board.
13 more days!!!

Our cruise is currently stating that it is sold out!!! I am booked in a VGT room and am still waiting for my room assignment. If the cruise is fully booked you would think they would know where we are going:confused3 I hope that I don't have to wait until I get to the ship to get my room number. Either way I cannot wait only 11 days to go. :beach:

wow... a full ship! I just tried to make a dummy reservation and it said sold out... eep!

in the meantime... I'm getting ready to stalk the 10-day forecast. Weather.com has it going out to next Wednesday. We fly in the day before the cruise, so I'm going to start checking tomorrow.

Getting close (which now leads me to start :scared: ... need to finish FE's... need to PACK... need to buy things that I don't know about yet to pack)

I'm not a disneyfile but I am a native Floridian and have been enjoying the WDW since I was 5 and I do love Mickey. I lived out of state for almost 15 yrs and I'm thrilled to be living here again. I've been able to take my daughter to the parks twice and can't wait to share the magic that awaits us on the cruise!

Btw - It's been a couple of days since I read through this whole thread, but I thought I saw that there were going to be other 9 yr old kids? Also does anyone have any experience with the kids clubs? my daughter will be 10 in a month so she's borderline for the kid's clubs. I'm concerned she will get bored.

My oldest DD turned 10 a few months ago. So we had the same concerns. From what I have read, when they board they can check out both the Lab and the Edge to see which one fits best. I have read that they will sometimes allow a 10 year old into Edge. The downside seems to be that once they choose they have to stick with one club and not go between the two clubs. I am encouraging my DD to do the activities in the Oceaneer's Club and Lab with her younger sister. I have read the lab activities are good for the older set. I am certain that she won't be interested in dressing up like a princess at story time like we saw on the planning DVD. I am just hoping there are some good lab activities planned for the timeframe we have our Palo reservations. I have spoken to other parents who were concerned before boarding that their kids would resist going to the clubs at all and by the end of the cruise they had to ask the kids to come out to spend some time with the family. :)

We are a VGT category also and still haven't been assigned a stateroom either! Post when you get yours if you don't mind!!! I'm anxiously awaiting to see where we are too!!! Getting close!!!! So nervous still, it being our first time!!!

Thank you CCtimmom for the icebox picture and final FE list!! Seem like our family going to have a neighbor :D I think I have enough for everyone!
Btw, I'm very happy to announce that my whole family is excited about doing FE because my SIL decided to make FE. That's one headache taken away, so I am extra excite!! I really wish it's cruise time lol.

Oh, do we plan to do a meet? I am just curious, no pressure. I just find it fun to see who is who behind the screen name :)

We have a VGT reservation as well.I called and spoke to a CM, she mentioned that the latest date they can give us our room info is 5 days away from our sail date. But hopefully well get it sooner.

Hi! This is our first Disney cruise and I have a 9 yr old son. We have cruised on another cruise line and he LOVED the club. I have signed him up for Oceaneer and even my 13 yr old son is jealous of all the cool things in that club. Lol! :lmao: I say, tell her to give it a try. My boys were resistant on that first cruise, but it was a great experience in the end.

We are getting so excited for our cruise!!! To those who knew I was preggo, we unfortunately, lost the baby. We are doing ok though, and really are in need of the cruise now. :) Can't believe it is almost here!! Thank you all for the support and for keeping this thread exciting. I can hardly wait!!
