Just thought I would bring this up about the dream fastpasses. My sister in law who is a cm says they are handing these things out faster than expected. Cm's have been given the greenlight to give out more than alotted for the entire promotion as they have printed up thousands more. Other than it being a great momento would getting a fastpass be needed during this time of year when the parks are so dead for the most part. The wait times are well under 20 mins the past month on weekdays and I am sure on the weekends it would be nice but rerally worth using? I don't know. My thought is that if you get on of these on a really slow day hold on to it, for one day a dream fastpass with unused tags could be worth a pretty penny. Just a thought. :thumbsup2  :thumbsup2

That's a thought... what would one pay for a dream FP on ebay? Might come in very handy come July... do they have expiration dates on them?

They are good for that day and that park only, and they are dated.

If the FP is good for the whole day, do you have to turn it in at the end of the day or something? Couldn't you use it AND keep it as a souvenir?

I think if I got one, I would keep it. Usually when I go, waits are pretty short anyway and it would be a great thing for the scrapbook! :goodvibes

While talking at length to one of the Dream Team members, we were told that every precaution possible was taken to keep people from profiting on Ebay. Of course, the items with no expiration such as the lanyards, T-shirts, and mouse ears will probably find their way to Ebay...that is if they haven't already.

The pass has tabs around the edge - one for each ride - that you pull off and hand in as your pass at the ride. You could then keep the original pass part as a souvenir, and of course any tabs you may not have used.

My family was lucky enough to receive the very first DREAM FASTPASS in Epcot on 10/01/06. The FASTPASS is plastic and on a lanyard. It resembles a backstage pass from a concert. On either side of the card are removable plastic tabs with the names of each attraction on them. You simply approach the attraction and hand your tab to the castmember.....no waiting in lines at all. At the end of the day, you are left with a wonderfull momento. The only things gone are the tabs.

I understand how the fastpass works. What I was getting at is if the pass is unussed with no tabs missing one day it could be worth some money or nothing at all.

LOL.

Worth it?

It's FREE if you get selected. So either you use it, or you don't...in any case, there is no "worth it" since you don't have to do anything to get it.

As to future value, I'm sure they will be worth a few bucks to collectors and scrapbookers, but that will be about it. I'm sure someday someone will pay some outrageous price for one or two of them from the first day or something, an eBay fluke, but they are giving hundreds of thousands of these things out over the entire celebration so I really don't think they will be terribly "rare". This is especially true when you realize the potential audience for them as "collectables"; people that are going to want a non-usable fastpass lanyard that they didn't win themselves just for collectable purposes is going to be rather low.

One would assume, though, that those that do resell would be intact - much more desirable from a collectors standpoint, even if the pass is only able to be used on the day it was issued.

Who knows if its worth something monetarily. It didn't even cross my mind not to use them. Personally, the magic that this little "dream" brought to my kids was worth so much more than anything else. It was more about getting the "dream" than how much time we were actually saving or how much money we could make by selling it. It was important for us to just enjoy the "magic" of the moment.

I highly doubt that thousands of extras were printed up. The sweepstakes rules are very strict and only a certain number are issued each day, the CM's do not get to pick who/when/what/where, etc. A third party runs the prize distribution, the CM's have no freedom when it comes to issuing extras, etc.

I love the Castaway Cay shirt in the photo. We saw a guy wearing that same T-shirt when we were in line to ride Peter Pan the other night. I hate that I can't get my hands on one for my DH....He loved it.

It's the picture of you and DH? in your signature. BTW, congratulations on singing with the Candlelight Processional. That is one of my favorite holiday traditions when we visit the world at that time. What a great honor.

Doubt it thats fine. But they have in fact printed up more of these to hand out if you want the number, it is twelve thousand. Remeber Disney's promtion they do what they want if you doubt that then you need some help. All I was getting at was that if it is a slow, slow day at the parks and you got one why not save it for yourself as a special collectors item. I brought up the selling option because that's what some people do. The dream fsatpass cost them nothing out of pocket but the plastic it is printed on and the lanyard that holds it. So you doubt that Disney would not print up more of these to spread the magic to more people? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: P.S The twelve thousand was just for Orlando alone and who nows how many for the other parks. Magic Doubter!

Here are the exact numbers from the sweepstakes information:

95,970 Dream Fast Passes to Orlando's Magic Kingdom
57,125 Dream Fast Passes to Epcot
95,970 Dream Fast Passes to Disney MGM Studios
95,970 Dream Fast Passes to Disney's Animal Kingdom

So a total of 345,035

And from the official site:
Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, if for any reason, the Giveaway administrator and/or Sponsor mistakenly selects more potential winners than there are prizes available, the applicable prizes may be awarded by Sponsor in a random drawing from among all of the participants identified by Sponsor as valid, non-suspect potential winners for those prizes. Only the type and quantity of prizes described in these Official Rules will be awarded. If, despite reasonable efforts, a potential winner does not respond, or if the prize, any prize documentation or prize notification is declined, unclaimed or undeliverable, or if any potential winner is found to be ineligible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules, such potential winner may forfeit his or her prize in Sponsor's sole discretion. All prizes legitimately claimed will be awarded. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded.

I do believe in Magic. :wizard:

I agree with saving it, if I were to win one I would not use it but save it since we collect Disney items. Never doubting you just stating the facts I read from their site, and from such it seems Disney could not issue more than their sweepstakes allows due to legal restrictions applying to all sweepstakes. Wether more were printed as a back up incase some were damaged that's anyone's guess. Here is the link to the official information.

Dizeenee, thanks! Which one of our shirts? He's wearing a Panama Canal Cruise shirt and I'm in a Disney Cruise Est. 98 ring neck T-shirt. Were sailing on 12/2 if you'd like a certain shirt maybe I could pick one up for you. princess:

I wouldn't be surprised if a Disneyana collector would shell out a few bux for a pristine Dream Fastpass. That doesn't sound unlikely to me at all, especially a year or ten down the road. If we are given one we might likely keep it pristine because I can just see DW scrapbooking it :teeth:

Correct me if I am wrong: Ticket non-transferability and anti-scalping laws do not apply to tickets being sold as souvenirs long after the event(s) to which they applied have passed.
