Dream Dress Code Question

My family and I will be boarding the Disney Dream next week and I noted that they indicated "No Shorts Please" for dining attire. I can understand this for dinner at the Palo or the Remy but I need to know how strict this rule is for the other sit down restaurants. I was planning on wearing nice dress shorts and a collared shirt to dinner and maybe bringing one pair of dress pants for dinner at the Royal Palace. Input please so I can pack. Thanks

although it says that in the rules, I have heard that many people will wear shorts and jeans in the dining rooms. We leave thurs, on our frist Disney cruise and my DH does not plan to wear shorts while dining. Just a preferefence of his. I have heard its not big deal if you do though. HTH.

I will saling on the disney fantasy in september and I plan on wearing nice dresses for dinner and on formal nights i will wear long dresses. my best guess would be for men a nice jacket with or with out a tie dress pants and dress shoes. hope this helps Mashelle

I just got back from the Dream 4 night on the 20th. There was a guy on our final night at Royal Palace with flip flops and shorts. He was still able to eat. My hubby also wore jeans one night and shorts with a Hawaiian type shirt another night. For our final Royal Palace night he wore a tie and dress shirt.

They ask that you not wear swim attire but don't really enforce the rules unless you are going to Palo where you need a suit coat and tie along with dress pants.

So my DH brought a pair of dress slacks, a pair of jeans, and two pairs of shorts, and 5 tops, and a suit coat and tie just in case. (can't forget the swim trunks)

I packed a lot of tank tops, a nice dress, sandals that could do double duty for a nice dress and walking around, 3 pairs of shorts, one pair of pants, and two swim suits.

We also spent 4 nights at Disney and washed clothes once there.

Below is DCL's "official" answer to the dress code question. There will always be those who do whatever they like, but as Otimon stated, it is recommended to follow the ship's request for dressing for dinner.

On 3-night cruises:

One cruise casual night—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One "dress-up night"—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women

On 4-night cruises:

First night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One "dress-up night"—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
Final night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops

On 7-night cruises:

First night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Three additional "cruise casual" nights—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One formal and one semi-formal night—formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress; semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.

Dress code at Palo on all cruises:

Men: dress pants and shirt or jacket
Women: dress or pantsuit
Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

Dress code at Remy on all cruises:

A tuxedo or jacket (sports or suit jacket) is required with dress pants for men. Ties are optional.
A cocktail dress, pant suit or skirt/blouse is required for women.
Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes.
For cruises that request formalwear attire, Guests can pre-order tailored formalwear rentals and have it delivered directly to their staterooms upon arrival.
