Dream Concierge

Cashe, I knew I liked you! Pseudo antisocial is us. Now I wish we were on the same sailing, we could be anti social at each other from across the room. =D

Now that I guess cabanas are an option, BF and I had a moment of uh...should we get one? But we're not beach people and we both have a tendency to get bored and want to do something else on a dime. I know what I'm about to say will be anathema round these parts, but if we got a cabana we'd feel like we had to spend all day on the island to get our money's worth, and there's some chance we will decide the sun is too bright or whatever. Or, more likely, we will envy the people who have cabanas when we don't.

Random concierge question: seems really close to the senses spa, would a length of stay rainforest pass be worthwhile?
No. I would just do one day. I can't imagine wanting to be in there everyday. Also, i am with you on the "spend all day on the island to get money's worth" thing. I'm still only 95% sure i want the cabana because I keep trying to talk myself out of it with thoughts like
"Well we have the 9am stingray thing for an hour, by the time that's over, we could walk to get a drink then go snorkel in the lagoon for an hour... Then i'm sure DD will want to go to eat then go to kids club so DH and I could go to Adult Beach... "

But then on the flip side of that, I think
"I may not want to snorkel with DH and DD, especially if my leg is messed up and it sure would be nice to just have a home base"

Sooooo... I'll probably keep it. I will most likely run DD over to Scuttles for an hour so DH and I can go check out the adult beach. He wants to try and find Barry the Barracuda over there and I've found a video on youtube showing someone who had seen what appeared to be a nurse shark and he would love that.

I hope we meet some people like us. We normally always scare people away because DH is covered in tattoos and I (apparently) always have a "please don't talk to me" look on my face LOL. Ive been told many times "you sure area a lot nicer than i thought you would be!" Which cracks me up b/c i'm MAYBE 4'10" on a good day and 90#s soaking wet. How intimidating could I possibly look?? AHAHAH!!

Also, if you choose to reserve a cabana, I researched location and watched videos on YouTube relentlessly before deciding on #17 but they put me in #15. I just wanted far away from everyone, but I was second guessing that choice and was kind of thinking i may have wanted #11 or #12 until I read that there's a volleyball net in front of those. Not that it matters, not many people play volleyball, I've read. FWIW, they've added chairs and umbrellas in front of the higher numbered cabanas now. There's not a #13 and they normally hold back #17 for weddings (or that's what concierge told me). Plus, about a month ago, #19 and #20 just showed up out of nowhere after being "sold out" online. Ironically, that same day, those cabanas also showed up on other peoples reservations as available too, so they MAY hold those then release later for those of you who don't know if you want to book or not. They also hold one for on board concierge booking if you decide last minute. Is there anything you want me to specifically note for when we go that might help you to decide for your cruise? I will try to help as much as possible.

I'm on the verge of falling asleep but I will revisit this tomorrow. Do you mean serenity bay cabins? And yes, haha, BF and I both have tattoos (not covered, but a few) and apparently I am also ... I don't know, I had a newish coworker today say he would joke around with me more but that I am "scary". I was like "I'm introverted not scary!". (I run all the office IT systems so most people don't see me come out of my office often, but I try to be nice to my coworkers, not sure how I have gained this rep of intimidation! It must be the face, I have "RBF", I'll let you Google that. :)

No but really I'll make more sense tomorrow. :)

We are doing family because of my daughter. The higher #d ones kind of look like they might feel more secluded instead of lots of kids. So it's a happy medium hopefully. I do want to see serenity bay though as it looks gorgeous!

Lol @rbf that's totally me too

Hopefully you have high tides most of the day.

Depends on if you're going to spend that time there or not. Any time we've been in there, it was NOT crowded. On our upcoming cruise, we are planning to get the LoS pass for both of us. If nothing else, it also gives you access to a bigger shower, depending on the number of people in your party.

And the tile chairs are awesome!! :)

You don't have to have a Rainforest Pas

You don't have to have a Rainforest pass to use the showers or the locker rooms.

I've read it both ways, in a recent thread someone mentioned the loungers were always taken. I think I'd like some of the amenities (the loungers, the hot tubs, even trying out the specialty showers) if they were actually available.

Ah okay. I have a feeling that between concierge and the fact that we wouldn't need one on the family beach, it means we have a good chance of getting one 'if' we wanted one, so I will probably swing back and forth on this a few times. :) It's slightly tricky because the BF is one of those 'don't overload me with details' people and has more fun if everything comes as a big surprise, so I can't confer with him much in terms of 'omg should we get a cabana'? I think we won't know if one would have been awesome to have until we've actually been there. Although I'm thinking of just grabbing one as a surprise. THANK GOD I HAVE MONTHS TO THINK ABOUT IT. Heh.

Hopefully you have high tides most of the day.
I've already toyed with this and checked the tides chart countless times. Low tide will occur about 130pm. High tide is that morning around 8am. I've seen the sand dune that splits the "lagoon" and the "bay" of the family beach. From other people's accounts, tides don't really affect that area much and i'm worrying too much.

I would reserve one and you have up to 3 days before to cancel, in case you change your mind :)

Oh wow, had no idea they were even cancellable, missed that somehow.

Yeah I guess I am grabbing one. >.>

For stuff like this is it worthwhile to ask the concierge team or just be up at midnight (or whatever)?

I would definitely ask the concierge for EVERYTHING you want at day 125. By the time I could login, it was all already done. There are videos on here and the "Castaway Cay Private Cabanas" thread to help you decide which one you want. I'll PM you my email to concierge if that would help you?

Definitely use the concierge team to reserve one at 120 days. There might not be any available at midnight.

As long as you get there early, you should be fine but the tides do affect that area.

Thanks! I've seen that. Recent posts suggest that they have dredged more in that area since then as someone said they snorkeled that area in January and saw lobsters. Also someone asked a CM and they had said they are not done dredging that area. I have a feeling it's changed since that "low tide" picture. Also, I have a feeling that b/c it's changed that "high tide" picture is inaccurate b/c I have yet to see it look like that in ANY recent picture of that area. I will take photos of high and low tide for my TR though as I'm sure people are interested in that info. I kind of like the idea of waist high water as I think my 6 year old would prefer that. I just didn't want to be close to the "action" of the "busier" beach, so I'm hoping this lives up to my expectations.

I PMd you with my letter I sent so you can get an idea.
