Dream Concierge

Dug isn't saying you are wrong for you feeling like you can't go back. All she's talking about is the phrase that was stated on the first page. "Once you go concierge you never go back!!!"

For some people, words have real meanings, and that phrase can be irksome. I know people who wouldn't book the level for "fear" that they would never enjoy a different level of cruising. The phrase is cute, but it should be left to specific individual people, not the blanket phrase.

Not sure who said they were cruising extra. For me only booking a V when it's a few hundred more than the other category we're thinking of, that's not getting us on extra cruises LOL.

I like the way you put all of that.

Except that the only people we meet while on Disney cruises have been in the concierge lounge, LOL. Everyone else everywhere else just seems to be into their own things. We don't end up going to the bars (too tired!), we aren't pool people when on Disney cruises, etc.

Others have said it and I'll reinforce it. Of course you can take the drinks from the lounge. Every MDR night in October I took my glass of wine from the reception and brought it to the dining room. It's hard to really call the offerings in the lounge breakfast lunch and dinner, but then I remind myself that since we're vegetarian, the offerings are pretty skimpy in terms of things we can have. Probably colors my view of it. :)

She's annoyed by that phrase. She has good info and experience to impart. You always mention that there are perks that aren't listed and are often just given but you won't tell us what they are so no one expects them... Dug and I apparently haven't gotten any of those mysterious perks; we aren't wrong to mention that. She and I have had our experiences, and the phrase "Once you go concierge you never go back!!!", as was said in one of the first replies on this thread, doesn't apply to either one of us. My family has *easily* gone without concierge. I wouldn't *choose* an inside cabin again, but that's because it makes me sleep even better on a cruise, and I don't pay to go on a cruise so I can sleep. [Been there done that with our one-week-after-the-wedding honeymoon cruise, when I was already brand-newly pregnant, reacting to the hormones like crazy, and was fully asleep by 8pm every night (I'm a nightowl by nature). Barely even remember the cruise I was SO exhausted.]

She shouldn't avoid giving her good and useful information, just because some think she's bitter. (bitter?)

I have stated clear reasons why I will not have a " spoiler" on extra services, and other concierge posters have taken the same view. A lot may depend on the length of your cruise, your other requests, your concierge host. Plus when anything is posted on this board , the surprise goes so if you expect it that moment is lost, and annoyance creeps in that someone else got it I am entitled to it, and leads to upset. One thing we did get did eventually get posted by another person here so I confirmed it, that was we got free coffees and drinks at Cove Cafe all cruise. Now I didn't post it here in August , but was on my cruise blog, as if someone didn't get that they would be upset, and someone was upset as soon as it was posted. I have time and again given the advice, speak to your concierge host about your needs then see what they do. If you make too many requests they may charge, but if you do not you might get pixie dust. The last thing " some" posters may be further upset that concierge has more in advertised perks compared to non concierge.

This may be a dumb question but do I just call the regular DCL number or is there another one specific to concierge that I just haven't seen yet? This is all completely new to me. Thank you!

In my reservation confirmation emails for the concierge cruises we've taken, the phone number has been given in the second paragraph.

They will send you an email. Reply at 125. You should get an automatic response. If you don't get that, they didn't get your email. Contact them again!
I know this because I got no autoresponse, but didn't know I should be getting one. Booking stuff is easier for me since I'm on the west coast, and I just had a feeling something had gone awry. So 9pm at 120 days found me on the computer, seeing that nothing was booked for me so I snagged a cabana and did a Palo reservation on my own. Then I sent them an email saying "nevermind". They got THAT one, and because I had sent it with a forward of my originally sent message, when they received "nevermind" that's when they received the first one. They were very thankful that I had stayed up and booked on my own.

When I was telling Andy and Ashley about the floop in shoreside's email system, they said that's nothing. What's bad is when one cabana is accidentally reserved for two separate concierge staterooms and there are no other cabanas left...that's the issue that gets ugly...according to them.[/QUOTE]
Thank you!!! That is very good info!!! I am also on the west coast so it may end up being easier for me to book it myself but we'll see. It is nice to know what to expect and what to watch for. I'll watch for the email from concierge and email my requests but will definitely be aware of an auto response. I don't get one I will be on top of it.

Yes, I acknowledged your reason for it. And went on to explain that the unwritten concierge offerings haven't been offered to all. Free coffee at Cove would be awesome, given how I feel about the lounge's cappucino machine. Would love to know how to get that.

When I get exactly what I'm supposed to get, what is written on the paperwork, it's just getting what I'm supposed to get*.

I get the fruit basket, I get goodies (which really destroy the way DH and I are trying to eat, and were actually an annoyance that we will request to NOT get for future concierge levels cruises), I get the lithograph...those are things I expect, especially the fruit basket and lithograph. Those are things you get with concierge, LOL. Someone on a different thread was mentioning that we shouldn't expect a Castaway Club gift...except that on the Castaway login page it tells us TO expect a gift. How are we supposed to not expect what we've been told to expect?

But that's just an aside, and not something to detract. Probably very much like dug mentioning previous concierge threads with "us vs them" stuff. Not something to distract; just an aside. That's how I took it at least.

It's just the phrase that was stated that drives people like me a little bananas. It might be true for some, but it's not true for all. So maybe it shouldn't be said as an absolute. That's all. :)

*And when I'm treated by a concierge host in the exact same way he is supposed to treat people, for someone like me, that doesn't make me feel special. It makes me feel like...someone who is paying extra to get treated a little differently. :) Now what DID make me feel special was when a former host recognized us 9 months after meeting us, and when DH told her of a pillow issue I was having (I wasn't present for this and would NEVER have allowed him to mention it), she insisted on helping me. That was the inside cabin cruise. THAT was amazing. She's not with Disney anymore. Sad. (and now I bring my own pillow because apparently I'm a princess, LOL)

Nope, no phone number. That's ok. There is still plenty of time to figure everything out.

You do get your castaway club gifts I always do.

Again my advice is get to know your concierge. Now on embarkation the meet is the hosts and supported by guest services, try and get a concierge host your concierge. Just keep speaking to them each day what you like what are your concerns or issues or likes and see if pixie dust comes!

I really want to avoid the terms some posters are saying, it is inflaming a thread discussion. Concierge is a service you choose and if you want it pay for it. Some comments are just " baiting" for causing a split of opinion that is not productive and will lead to arguments. Most posters have been professional to not descend to that level.

On our last cruise one of my twins lost a tooth in Nassau and we were talking about it to our concierge host back onboard the ship. Low and behold after we returned from the nighttime show there was two crush stuff animals in the room and a little something extra from the tooth fairy for my one son who lost his tooth. That is what honestly made the trip wonderful for my whole family. And that's why I said that comment once you go concierge you never go back.

That's great.

I had that room booked for May and searched high and low for pics and could never find any. I changed to 12000 last week. It is directly across from the lounge and that's why I booked it. It doesn't get bad reviews. Should be a great room!

The bump out is great. I even took a camping hammock hoping to put it up out there somewhere, but there wasn't a good place to put it up. The walls are solid so there wasn't a good place to tie off to anywhere. :(

Starboard but I've read they request that you not be in the room during them. Also from what I have learned they are only like 5 min or so long and not worth basing your room decision on. Hth
