Dream Concierge 12000, BL Dolphin Swim, Cabana, Gluten Free Vegetarian

This dish was equally amazing. The sauce was equally dazzling.

Marinated Tofu. I am not the world's biggest fan of tofu, but as a vegetarian, it does tend to come along here and there. This dish was so so good. Way better than tofu has any right to taste.

Oh, I just noticed this image. They did serve gluten free bread. I can't remember when it came along. It was fine. Jason thought it was excellent but it was pretty much your typical gluten free bread, maybe just a little better.

Going backwards a little, I just remembered that they served us a cube of fried tomato soup. I guess I never took a picture of it. It was just a little cube. You were instructed to pop the whole thing in your mouth, because otherwise it could be messy. It was delicious! We were left to guess as to how it was prepared. I'm going with frozen into a cube, then breaded and deep fried. How else could they pull that off? Of course they won't tell you, and I hope I'm not spoiling it for anyone.
Our table decor. I thought it was so pretty as the sun began to set.

And yes, I was able to watch people going on the aquaduck. I found that entertaining.
Our view as the sun set. I think Palo got the actual sunset, we just got the sun reflecting on the clouds on our side of the ship.

It was still very pretty, and why we changed our 8:00 reservation to something early enough to watch the sun set.
Incidentally, we were the only diners in the entire restaurant for the first hour. It wasn't until 7:30 that more guests showed up. Even then, there were only 3 other tables the whole time we were there. Our server said that was typical on the first night of the cruise.

Miniature Vegetables.

This dish was very pretty, if a bit scattered. We had no idea what half of these things were, but it was a tasty dish, and fun to experiment with new foods and try to guess what we were eating.

And finally, the cheese plate. They went over each cheese as they cut them at the table for us, and instructed us as to the best order to eat them in, cleansing our palette between each one with a piece of dried apricot.

I found most of the cheeses too strong for my liking. I tried a tiny piece of each except the blue cheese. I hate blue cheese. Jason said it was good, and he is not a fan of blue cheese either. It wasn't enough to convince me.

We enjoyed this bit of thoughtfullness- we've done this ourselves but never seen it done in a restaurant. Jason ordered iced tea, and it came with frozen iced tea cubes, so it wouldn't dilute as the cubes melted.

Dessert. OMG. Just. No words.

The plate was dusted with chocolate. But it was more than dusted because you could barely scrape it off, even trying hard. It was more like chocolate glue was sprayed on. (not really but that's what it seemed like). It was a beautiful presentation.

I will refrain from posting the treats they sent us home with, unless you beg and plead. I want to leave something as a surprise!

One more note on Remy: They really mean it when they say no kids! My 15 year old son wanted to "check on us" so rather than text us, he showed up. I think he wanted a peak at the exclusive adult only restaurant we were dining at, lol. A server approached me and let me know that my son would like to speak with me, and escorted me out of the restaurant, where I found Grant, waiting outside the elevators. I asked him if everything was okay (it was). He just wanted to say hi. Sorry, Grant. 3 more years before you have any hope of stepping foot in Remy!

Seasickness pills: I forgot to note this earlier, but I had mentioned that I was really feeling the movement and I found it very unsettling. Logan was feeling the same way, so Jason went to concierge and got us some packets of meclizine. Logan and I each took one before dinner. I was fine after that. We found out when Grant came to visit me at Remy that Logan continued to feel nauseous at dinner so the kids took their plates back to the room and finished their dinner there. Logan was fine after the first day but he went to bed early on day one, feeling less than great. I don't know if the seasickness med was too late for him.
Everyone was fine after the first night and we never had a problem after that.

Conclusion for Remy: fabulous, elegant, extravagant. I say do it, if you can. It was a lovely evening!
They handled the gluten sensitivity wonderfully, as well as providing a fabulous vegetarian meal.

One more note from the first night- we encouraged the kids to go to the show, and they did. The Golden Mickeys. With our 6:30 dinner lasting 3 hours, there was no way we would be able to go. The kids were so glad they went. They talked about it for days. I am so glad they went too! At least they were still having some fun while we were eating, and eating, and eating. lol.

Wow, the view from the front of the ship is incredible! I could have sat on that balcony the entire cruise (perhaps with a pair of noise cancelling headphones to avoid any smalltalk from above). Great photos, too, of the two of you at Remy. After seeing them, I am really excited that we also got an early seating for dinner in November. Last time, it was impossible to get a reservation before 8 pm so it was dark when we got there. The food was outstanding, but I now see that it would have been even better with the view. Glad to hear that they were able to put together a great gluten free dinner for you: the dinner was definitely a highlight for us.

We stayed in the same cabin on the Fantasy in April and I agree with all your comments regarding the veranda... the good and bad! Somehow we missed getting escorted up to the concierge lounge when we boarded. It had been our forth time on the ship, either Dream or Fantasy, so we thought we were being smart by going straight to Cabanas only to find that nothing was open yet, so we headed to concierge. So keep this mind too. If you do concierge again and are among the first few to get on the ship, they aren't serving food yet! so when we headed back to the concierge lounge, it was packed and we found ourselves lost in the shuffle. This December, i am heading straight to the concierge lounge!

I think, based on what you are saying, that we would board the ship and take our time heading over to cabanas, find a good spot, and hang out until they start serving food. After lunch, head over to the concierge lounge when it wasn't so crowded. I guess for me, being in the concierge lounge right away meant my family got to eat but I didn't, which was a little upsetting since I had let them know numerous times that I was gluten free and vegetarian, and there was nothing I could eat. By the time we made it down to eat, I was hungry but no one else was.

Cabanas started serving food around noon, but we were on the ship and upstairs by 11:30 or a bit earlier, so there was nothing open. and we didn't really need anything from concierge upon boarding so we took the time to enjoy a mostly empty ship! so i would definitely either go straight to concierge and get that meeting over with or relax on a very quiet ship!

Forgive me for the question, but what did you expect from concierge? If they were serving meals, absolutely they needed to make note of your request. I hope the dining rooms offered choices. But the lounge only advertises snacks. You could easily remove croutons from a salad. When I was on board, fresh fruit was always available. I understand if you didn't care for the choices; there were times the offerings didn't appeal to me either. It sounds like you had a pretty good cruise overall though.

If the gluten free diet is a medical issue, and not a fad based weight loss plan, then removing the croutons from the salad isn't really an option for many people. Even crumbs from something with gluten in it can trigger intestinal damage due to celiacs.

Agree, but, in my experience, people with a diagnosed medial condition like celiac say "I have celiac's." Whereas people who choose to eat GF say they are gluten free. Nevertheless, there is still the option of fruit I would assume and again, the lounge does not advertise itself as serving full meals. My mother is diabetic. It was not uncommon for her to not be able to eat food in the lounge. However, she was perfectly fine finding food elsewhere since the lounge food was not meant to be an actual meal.

Like I said, I'm just curious about what the OP expected the employees to do and/or how she felt the miscommunication occurred.

Even people with celiacs have to specify they need food that's gluten free. Not everybody knows what celiacs is....but chefs and food handlers understand gluten free. Assumptions are silly.

I understand what you're saying though.

Maybe board a little later next time and go to cabanas asap

Great reviews! Can't wait to read more. Did you eat at Palo too? I hope hubs and I can fit in both in our 7 nighter in May. Also wondering if you could've caught the late show after dinner? I am a nerd but I love to see all the shows.

We did not eat at Palo. It was a 4 day cruise and we had the kids with us. We felt bad leaving them, even though they had their own things to do, we wanted to maximize family time.
Our Remy dinner was so long that we missed the last show.
Wow, I am neglecting this trip report! Life gets busy! I have another cruise booked, a mother-daughter cruise in September. We'll go from the very front of the ship to the very back! We're in a 5E. I can't wait to compare them!
