Dream 8/18-22 Fish Extender Group

I can't seem to find a thread for this yet, so I'm starting one! If you are on the Dream August 18 sailing, and want to join the Fish Extender Exchange, plese post your info here! Need Names in your party, cabin number, and any other details you'd like to provide (kid's ages are helpful, of course!) I'll try to maintain the list here in the first post. Thanks!

I was getting nervous no one was starting one, and asked on one of my FB Disney pages for advice on doing it. There seems to be a lot of first timers like us who have heard about this, but not done it before. i had almost given up checking the thread! What a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday! Lys is really looking forward to Vibe and CC.

Hi. I am so excited about our cruise and the FE program since I read about it on the blog.
I didn't bring my paperwork with our room numbers but here is what I have:
2 rooms - 5 family members
Danny (husband)
Christy (me)
My mom (Linda)
Parker (daughter, age 9)
Morgan (daughter, age 6)

We are DVC members from Baltimore and will be spending a few days at Art of Animation after the cruise to check out the cool new property.

I am really slow at this blogging stuff so please let me know how I get a good "directions" list of the who/what regarding FE. Do I have to create my own list based on everyone's post or will a master list be circulated.

ETA, Make that 5 counting cabins! We will need everyone's cabin numbers. If anyone has any food allergies or anythign like that, let us know. And, if anyone in your group has a favorite character or anything else you think we'd like to know, let us know that, too!

Can you guys help direct me to a good crafter to get our FE hangers made. I see lots of posts on ebay and other sites, but would prefer the recommendation from a fellow cruise-mate.

PS -- love the countdown. Is that an app/widget?

I got the countdown from ************** I'm ordering our fish extender from Gradysmommy on etsy. I think someone here recommended her to me. I will update the first post with your additional info! Even if we only have five cabins in our exchange, I think we will have lots of fun!

I ordered my fish extender from Gradysmommy on etsy as well. She has some great stuff. You can choose your own colors of fabric, mickey heads, embroidery, etc. She will customize it however you want. You can also upgrade the hanger to a mickey head dowel instead of just a plain dowel. They take several weeks, so you will want to order sooner than later.

-- Do we do surprises for each family/person per day? Or are we assigned days?
-- Do you include your "name" on the tag or is all secret?
-- Do we all try to get together and actually meet at one point during the cruise?

My understanding is that you can do as little or as much as you want gift-wise. If our group stays this small I will probably do daily gifts! If we had 20 families I wouldn't I'd like to try and meet up. We can figure that out as we get closer. And I think it would be nice to know who the gifts are from (board name plus real name would be good), but if someone wants to give anon, that's ok with me.

I'm a newbie too so any advice would be appreciated. From what I've read on other threads, some people do gifts each day, others just do one. Some families will do just one gift for the group and others do separate for the kids and the adults. I don't think we can go wrong either way I plan to do a one time gift with multiple items - some for the whole family and some items more geared towards the kids. I think I'll put our family name and where we're from on it.

I have found the FB sites devoted to this subject to be life saving in nerves and planning.

Which FB sites? Should we make a group for us on FB? We seem like such a small group, maybe it isn't necessary. I haven't done a FE before either, but I think we can figure this all out together! I have done a Photpass share and a fridge swap before, though . I'm a DIS-er through and through!

Earlier today I searched FB for "Fish Extenders" and found several groups. I joined one and am AMAZED at the group of folks and the care and love they put into their items. I just hope my ideas live up to everyone else's surprises.
