My first post in a forum...ever. Be gentle :-)

has anyone stayed in stateroom 6146 aboard the Dream? I booked it believing (and being told by travel agent) that the veranda/balcony is clear plexiglass, so my itty bitty can see through it. Upon reading reviews of this room, I have read that it is completely white-walled and with an obstructed view?! Not sure which is the case. Can someone fill me in? I am a first time cruiser...there is so much to learn!

On the Dream and Fantasy there are no solid white walls. It may be partially obstructed meaning there is a small white wall about (adult) knee high

This is a cat 5 - no solid wall at all. From reviews that I read it looks like there is a slight obstruction on the top right of the verandah.

Yes, messed up when looking at the stateroom plans. This is a 6b and has the wall that only comes up to about shin height. We have stayed in 7188 with the same type of verandah and it was fine. Your little one should have no trouble seeing out.

Thanks guys! I've seen pics of veranda walls made completely of plexiglass and I was all "I need this in my life!".

I had read one review of this specific room and how the reviewer's child had to stand on a table to see over the wall. Not a great idea and one I am trying to avoid. Thanks for the input all!

The review where the child had to stand on the table to look out was for the Wonder. On the Magic/Wonder it is a full white wall but the Dream/Fantasy it is just shin height.

I found the following in an older post regarding stateroom 6146 on the Dream:

"We were in Stateroom 6146 on the Dream this past summer. It is considered a Category 5D room. Our veranda didn't have a white wall or the white kick plate. (I even went to look at my pics again to double check. I had heard that we would have either one of those before boarding, but was pleasantly surprised that we didn't have either."

While I have not stayed in 6146, I have stayed in 6144 on the Fantasy (same layout and rooms as Dream), which is next door to 6146 and it had the full plexiglass on the verandah. I am staying in 6646 on the Fantasy next month, which is the same type of room but the opposite side the ship and I can report once I return. (Not sure when you are sailing, so hope this helps)

That's fantastic! Thank you so much for your help and effort. That is a huge relief. Enjoy your cruise next month! I am guessing you enjoyed your first one!

Yes, we have enjoyed 3 previous DCL cruises, and the one next month will be our 4th. We love the full plexiglass verandah walls, especially since I am short and I can still see the view while sitting down.

According to the deck plans, Room 6146 on the Dream is Cat. 5D, not 6B, so it shouldn't have the whitewall.

What some posters are referring to is there is a decorative skin that causes a very slight obstruction (I hesitate to even use that word) to every 6 or so rooms. I think 6146 is one of those rooms. I had another one of such rooms: 7650 (I had that room on both the Fantasy and the Dream). Honestly, that obstruction is very minimal and not worth worrying about. Hope you enjoy your room. The only unknown about 6146 (and its twin, 6646) is not knowing what is directly below it (there is a gray space on the deck plan there on Deck 5, and in real life there is an oddly shaped verandah there, and I never saw anything or anybody on it).

Thanks! I'm anxious to see what the mysterious grey space is. Can't wait!

Yes! I know the feeling! I'm a shortie too. I take my first cruise next fall and can't wait to relax and enjoy the views.

Directly below 6146 on the Dream is the hallway that feeds between aft elevators, to the kids clubs, to the atrium & mid-ship elevators. The verandah you're seeing there is probably a catwalk to assist with the lifeboat machinery / controls.
