Okay, I have to ask, is this the dreaded dumpster view that everyone talks about. I don't think it is, but if it is, what is the big deal? this was taken from room 4540 last Augsut. I am assuming that the dumpsters are under the log trellis/pergola thing?

Never had the "dreaded dumpster" view, but if that's all there is to it, it doesn't seem like it deserves its reputation.

I had a dumpster view once at WLV and thought it was no big deal...... I rather enjoyed the quiet at the end of the hall. I just choose to look elsewhere.

The view we had was of the service road. At the end of the service road was a wooden gate. Behind the wooden gate were large dumpsters. Now I cannot say for sure it was garbarge dumpsters because it looked like housekeeping had those long carts with linens on them in that area too. I'm not sure, because with nothing to look at, we didn't spend much time on our balcony.

Is my picture what you saw??? This was at a turnaround/roundabout? It's not a great shot, mostly of the balcony, but you can see the log structure?

actually theres a 1st fl room where the patio is right smack up against the bushes on both patios

I really can't tell what is seen in the picture, but I don't think that looks like the "dumpster" view....though if you were all the way at the end of the hallway on the bus stop side of the building, maybe that is it?

I believe I've had the "dumpster" view...and its not even a dumpster, its a linen receptacle....trucks come in and take the dirty linens from the receptacles. Its really not a big deal, there is no smell or anything as its not garbage. Others have described it well in this thread. Really, my only problem with the room we had with that view was that it was a smoking room and we would have preferred non-smoking.

I have had the first floor dumpster view room, and yes, your patio bumps up against the bushes for the dumpster. It's an actual dumpster with an enclosure around it now, I think, although when VWL first opened the dumpster was open so God and the world could see it--and complain. So they added the enclosure and bushes to make it just a touch better. ;)

I just checked and we were in room 4562 all the way down the hall. So I don't think your picture was what we saw.

We arrive back to VWL in April and I will most definately not take a room that far out again! It wasn't even the dumpster or what-ever it was, it was the long walk. DS was in a stroller last time, but will be on his own 6 y/o feet, and it's too far for him to be expected to walk.

We were there for three nights and then moved to a Boardwalk View. We really did not mind the dumpster view, but what we did mind was the truck waking us up at 5:30am each morning. We were sleeping in these mornings and could hear the truck early.

We got the "dumpster view" last year. the very very very last room on the 3rd or 4th fl (don't remember). We did not like it. You can see the road leading in. basically its like a parking lot view. cruddy.
We moved as soon as I walked in the room. I personally didn't like it.
unfortuneatly for those booking studios the last 2 rooms on all the floors 2-5 are double studios. So your chances are pretty good you will get the room. I think that is all matters on the tastes of the person in the room. Some people enjoy their balcony more than others and spend more time out there.

my 2 cents.
