I am having a harder & harder time finding pants for my 15 year old son. He has a hard time with buttons & zippers due to his hand weaknesses & coordination. He has worn a size 12 until this last growth spurt, and I have been able to buy pants & shorts & Target, Walmart & Nordstroms Rack that were still "cool" looking up until now. The 14's are now too short (ok in waist), so I wondered where to turn for bigger sizes that are still user friendly to get on & off, especially at school. You can only have so many pairs of sweat pants..LOL

Thanks for any help!

OK, LANDS END. They are not cheap, but they wear like iron. My 18 year old wears the size 20 Husky, that is the biggest size. My son is not really fat, he is about 160 pounds and 5' 8" maybe? The length's perfect, even a tiny bit long. I get the open bottom climber pants, they have an elastic waist, no buttons, snaps or zippers. Like sweatpants, sort of, but not sweats. They even come in denium. My son does not know what cool is, so I can dress him in anything. (Down syndrome/autism) They come in cargo style, too. I do not buy the ones with elastic around the ankle, they seem a little strange, although my son would not think anything negative about them.

Lately they have not made all the colors in size 20 husky, which is a bummer for me, he has been wearing the same siz for years. They last him about 2 years.

Have you tried Land's End? They have alot of elastic waist pants... Or at least they have in the past. Sears carrys alot of Lands End and you may be able to find some there. I signed up for their e-mail specials and I get codes for free shipping or sales every few weeks.

I just went and peeked at the lands end web site and they do still carry the elastic waist pants in youth 8-20 sizes. My son has some cargo climbers with an elastic waist and built in belt... Kind of hides the elastic. He has dress pant sort of chinos with enough elastic on the sides to slide up and down without touching the buttons... He has put on a little weight so this may not be quite so easy now.:rotfl: good luck!

I knew I came to the right place! LOL
Thanks so much for the info posted so far. I will look into Land's End and Sears too. Luckily he doesn't know a name brand from another...but its nice to try to get him into clothes that resemble his peers, or all kinds.

If anybody else has ideas, keep them coming. I do need to check into some kind of dress pants for our cruise this summer.

I love lands End pants! I get them for DS12 in girls sizes because they are a little roomier in the hips, which makes allowance for his pull-up. They don't look like "girl-pants" either.

Talbots Kids also carries boys pants with elastic waist up to size 20. They do have a snap and zipper but since there is elastic my ds never uses the button/zipper.

The corduroys are on sale now but they also have twill and even the ones that zip off to shorts. They are a bit pricy but are very good quality. My ds is on his second winter with the same pair of navy corduroys.

The Children's Place also carries elastic waist pants in larger sizes. Cargo type, in khaki, navy, camo. (No denim, tho).

Another vote for Lands End here! Be sure to check their overstocks online- sometimes I have good luck finding sales in the bigger sizes (18, 20).
