HAVE A MAGICAL DAY

Drawn to the Magic is a short live show featuring three singing Disney "animators", some familiar Disney songs, and a visit by several Disney characters.

ATTRACTION

Animators Drawn to the Magic takes place either on the sidewalk outside the Animation Building, or on the stage of the Hollywood Backlot Theater.

The animators sing familiar songs about the characters they love (such as heroes and princesses), and then get three audience participants to strike up a familiar character pose. For the finale, each animator reveals the drawing of the character they have been "sketching" on their easel, and that Disney character appears from off-stage as they all perform a final song-and-dance number. After the show the characters are available to meet-and-greet guests either at the theater or inside the Animation Building. The audience volunteers are presented with the drawing, which they can get the character to autograph.

The usual characters are Sorceror Mickey and Cinderella, and either Woody or Hercules, but other characters may be substituted.

Not new at all. We've seen this several times.

We've also seen Snow White (my daughter got chosen to pose and got Snow's autograph on the animator's picture).

Yeah this show has been there for awhile. Personally I think it's very boring, a good show to see if you are traveling with little kids. The only good thing about the show is that it's also a good character photo opportunity, the characters that come out at the end stick around for pictures.

The characters I have seen are: Woody, Mickey in his Socerer's apprentice costume, Cinderella, and Hercules?, I think Hercules was part of the show - for sure the other characters were.

I don't know if the show has a permanent home because I've seen it on a small stage by the Monster's Inc. ride, and in front of the Animation Building - last few trips it was in front of the Animation Building.

Here's a link to video search results from YouTube:

If you've never gone into the Animation Building, you should see Turtle Talk with Crush and the Toy Story Zoetrope - the Zoetrope is a must see.

The show used to have Hercules, but he was replaced w/ Woody. As much as I love Woody, Hercules was pretty hunky. :p

We saw this show in May and Woody has been replaced by Peter Pan it seems. Probably b/c they want Woody "exclusive" to the Celebration BBQ. The show was a tad boring but I did like the singing and the character meet n greet after.

I saw it just last week and Woody is still there.

Yeah it was probably just a temporary thing, California Adventure is primarily Pixar themed so it wouldn't make sense to replace Woody with Peter Pan. The best thing about the show is the opportunity to get a picture with Mickey in a cool outfit.

They just use different characters at times, but it seems the most typical trio is Sorcerer Mickey, Cinderella, and Woody. I think you're right that they'd probably try to have one of the regular characters be from Pixar. I also agree that the best thing about it is being able to get a picture with Sorcerer Mickey!
