Disneys Hollywood Studios is sending The Force out to neighboring hotels and off-property sales locations this summer to showcase its revamped Star Tours attraction.
The Star Tours Central Florida Tour van, which is decorated with images from the ride, carries Star Wars characters out to greet visitors on International Drive and U.S. Highway 192 (plus a few Lake Buena Vista stops). Bree Starlighter, the chief holo-communications officer for Star Tours, a new space line coming to Earth, usually is onboard. Visitors also can expect to meet Chewbacca and a Jawa from Tatooine.
At each tour stop, guests will be given special edition Star Tours mouse-ear hats and certificates that allow them to participate in a new Rebel Alliance medal ceremony at Hollywood Studios.
The certificate, which does not include theme park admission, invites guests 4 to 12 years old to a ceremony where Princess Leia awards each participant a special medallion for joining the Rebel Alliance. Ceremonies are at 2:20 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays through Aug 1.
The tour kicked off last weekend and continues from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through July 30. The scheduled stops are not announced ahead of time.
