Hi, just been looking at Universal on Google maps and something about Dragon Challenge caught my eye. I understand from information that I've seen there are 2 tracks and they used to 'race' but now they set off each track at different times. However looking at google maps it seems that each track is different enough to be a different experience. Would that be right? If so can you request which track you ride on when you get to the top of the queue so that you can try both?

They are different.

A bit before the boarding area, you go right for one side and left for the other. It's 100% your choice assuming both sides are running.

Also, as you exit the ride, a bit of the way back down the hill you can get back in line (assuming the lines aren't too long) without going all the way to the exit - we did this and were able to ride about 10 times in a row in less than 30 minutes.

Cool, thought that was the case ok.

Guess that's the standby line you'd be re-joining not the express pass one. We'll be going at Christmas so the chances of the standby being short are slim :)

It's both lines at that point - they don't scan your express pass until you get to the building at the top of the hill.

Ohh? Does that mean if you have an express pass you have to queue with the standby line upto a certain point? That could be real bad news for a Christmas visit

When we went in August, everyone walked up the winding hill part of the line together, then when you enter the building, you go in one direction with an express pass, another without. I'm not sure if they change that when it's really busy. I will say the longest standby wait time we ever saw for it was 10 minutes, and express pass waits were 3 to 5 minutes - it is NOT a ride which seems to attract terribly long lines.

I've only been to UO 5 or 6 times, but it seems like when the ride was Dueling Dragons that the lines were waaaaay longer than they are now that it is Dragon Challenge. Doesn't make sense since the ride is exactly the same, but seems to be our experience.

Weird.

When it was DD, lines were barely over 20 minutes on most days. When I first moved here in 2004, I would ride DD five or six times in a row and the re-ride door was almost always open. Over the years before the name and entrance change, lines increased some but on average...not much. The longest line I waited in was about an hour...we started lining up at the castle entrance so it was quite a wait...but that was during Christmas week.

I would have thought HP would increase lines for DC since you have to go into WWoHP to access the entrance. I won't ride it again since it no longer duels...that was the main attraction for me. Oh...and Fire was my favorite side.

We only ever had long queue once, and that was in 2007....so that`s not bad!!

DS record for is 30 times one after the other using the short cut too, that was 2 years ago......I only managed about 5 or 6 before giving up....Tom made it to 10 :rotfl:

My favourite is fire too. I do still like the ride, but miss it duelling.
