Dragon at AK?

Back when we went in '99, I remember there was a 'dragon' in animal kingdom. I *think* it was on the way to the Lion King show- there was a bridge over a lake, and off to the side of the lake, there was a cave. Every so often the dragon would breathe fire from the cave (couldn't ever see the dragon, just the fire). Anyone know if this is still there?

No, it is not. I am sure others can give more details, but AK was originally supposed to include a land called "Beastly Kingdom" or something like that (witness the dragon on the AK logo). This was too expensive and instead we got the Camp Minnie-Mickey area, which was cheap and very popular. As a result, Beastly Kingdom has been shelved for the forseeable future.

Although madalex is correct in her response ... there IS supposed to be a "dragon" in AK. You are supposed to be able to see his "breath" on the bridge to Camp Minnie-Mickey. I am looking for this next time I am there because I didn't see it on my first trip.

In the "Mouse-for-Less" Hidden Gems they say "on the bridge to Camp Minnie-Mickey, see if you can find the fire breathing dragon's breath. It will be off to the right and on the left bank of the river."

I think that may be what you are referring to dolewhips!

PS-I have YET to have your name-sake!!! Hopefully next time I will get a chance to!

The only thing I've noticed was what looked like a large rock allagator, with water running out of its mouth.

Yes, he's there and the "waterfall" still does run out of his mouth.

But I have not seen it "breathe fire" for years. (He used to... high cost of propane, you know).


Even "Pal Mickey" talks about the "dragon" (made of rocks) as you pass by on that bridge to "Camp Minnie Mickey".

Then there is always the real dragon that you can see in Asia,...the Komodo Dragon!
