Dr. Pepper in WDW

I usually like coke products, but years ago when I was in college they had Crystal Pepsi. I loved it! We had to smuggle it onto campus as we were an all Coke campus.

But, saddly it is gone now.

I can't wait until Sept when I can go to the coke testing area at EPCOT. I have never done this and it sounds fun!

Just wanted to add my two cents that the "real" Dublin Dr. Pepper does taste so much better than the stuff with high fructose corn syrup.

And if anybody's ever in Waco, TX there's a Dr. Pepper museum in case this thread isn't answering all the questions you never knew you had about this product!

Dr Pepper was discovered by a Pharmacist.

Since I am a pharmacist and love DP...my brother took me to the small bottling facility and museum in Dublin, Tx....a bit West of Waco. The taste IS different. And the antique bottling machine was fascinating.

No, you can't get DP on property and that is the ONLY drawback to a trip to WDW. For a week, I drink Coke....usually.

On our second trip to the world (while dating LDR), my now DH brought enuf DP for me for a week in his suitcase!!! Pretty romantic, eh?

 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

You can get Dr. Pepper and Pepsi at Base 21 inside Spaceship Earth. You just have to find a way to get into Base 21. :)

You can get Mr. Pib at BC marketplace and AK Mara. When in a bind, I will settle for Mr. Pib.

Maybe Kevin can review the two different Dr. Pepper's, real (Dublin), and the main stream. And let us know what his preference.

FYI- (this is just a little outdated) Dublin DP bought another distrubutor a few years ago and they are making Imperial Cane Sugar DP. HEB Stores in Houston sell it for 5.99 a 6 pack for 8oz bottles or 7.99 at HEB Central Market in Central Houston. I have found it in Fredericksburg, Texas at the Walmart for under $3.00 for a 12oz can 6 Pack.

How can I get some cane sugar Dr Pepper?

You can either:

a) Visit the plant in Dublin, Texas--the oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant in the world and the only plant in the U.S. which is allowed by the Dr Pepper corporation to still manufacture the soda with cane sugar. The Dublin Dr Pepper Bottling Company is located at 221 South Patrick, Dublin, Texas 76446, one block south of the intersection of US377/67 and TX6. The plant is open Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm; Saturday, 10am-5pm; and Sunday, 1-5pm. You can also call them at 1-254-445-3466 for tour information, etc.

b) Visit most stores within a 50 mile radius of the plant--which is the territory covered by it.

c) Call up Old Doc's Soda Shop in Dublin at 1-888-398-10-2-4, or 1-254-445-3939 and they can tell you how much it costs to have "The Real Thing" shipped to you. You can even order it online right now! Click here and all will be revealed.

Be forewarned that no matter how you buy it from Dublin, there is a 25 case limit. Any more than that sold to a single person could violate franchise agreements (because you could be "dealing" if you have more than 25 cases in your possession and transport them into another franchise's territory).

d) Visit the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas, in person (see question 3.4 for their address), and you can buy loose bottles and cans of the cane sugar soda in their gift shop--but not at their soda fountain. The way they explain it, the museum is not allowed to sell the soda "to drink" at their fountain with all their other sodas, but they are allowed to sell it "closed" at their gift shop, as long as they only sell it in person to museum customers. I telephoned the museum and asked: "Does that mean you can’t drink it anywhere on the premises?" "Well, our customers can do whatever they want after they buy it," the kind woman on the other end responded. The museum does not ship the cane sugar product anywhere, which may be why you never heard of it on their web site.

e) And, if you want to drink some cane sugar Dr Pepper with your meal, you can safely do so at Love & War in Texas, a restaurant located at 601 E. Plano Parkway in Plano, Texas. A member of their staff confirmed for me that they do serve "the genuine article" every day for lunch and dinner. How do they get it? They drive up to Dublin and buy a few cases, like everyone else. They even have a web site at loveandwarintexas.com, where you can view their Texas-themed menu up close--or as up close as you can get on the web. Their phone number is 1-972-422-6201, and if you’ve got nine friends coming with you, they’ll even let you make reservations.

f) If you want to get some groceries along with your cane sugar Dr Pepper, you can find both at Central Market in Dallas, Texas, located at 5750 E. Lovers Lane at Greenville Avenue. You can email them at cox.michael@heb.com or call them at 1-214-234-7000 for more detailed information. They even cater!

g) If you’re in Seattle, Washington, you can drop by Real Soda, a store that specializes in selling soda in glass bottles, soda with cane sugar (such as the aforementioned cane sugar DP), soda in long neck bottles, soda imported from Europe and Mexico, and so on. Their street address is 459 N. 36th St., and their phone number is 1-206-633-1092. If you don’t feel like traveling there in person, there is an affiliated web site where you can order the soda at www.sodaking.com. However, if you only want to discuss the soda, there are (or will be soon) message boards for that at www.realsoda.com. And you thought I had too much to say on the subject?

I would really like to try it. I love hearing about things like this. I went to the Dublin website to see if I could order some of it, looks like I will have to phone them since I would need it shipped to Canada. I'm guessing it might be a little expensive. But if it is somewhere in a reasonable price I will order it.

Ypu can also get it at Olivia's and the Gurgling Suitcase at OKW.

For what it's worth...

As far as I know Dr. Pepper has never been owned by any company having to do with Coke. For awhile it was part of Cadbury Schweppes which bought them in 1995 but later spun them and Snapple off as Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc.

Maybe the campus in England doesn't sell them because coke distributor distributes them, but that would be disappointing as their beef is probably with Coke directly instead of the distributor. I could see them not selling Coke because that would benefit Coke and the distributor whereas selling Dr. Pepper would only benefit Dr. Pepper and the distributor...but then again, the distributor probably wouldn't want to only deal with selling Dr. Pepper.

The best part of being a Dr. Pepper loving, at least in Texas, is that it's everywhere. If they sell Pepsi and not Coke, they still sell Dr. Pepper....if they sell Coke and not Pepsi they still sell Dr. Pepper.

It's great to be a Dr. Pepper lover....unless you leave Texas (or other places it's easy to find)....then you can't get it anywhere

On our last trip to the world we got it delivered by Garden Grocer.

I must digress, does anyone know if Publix near WDW carries DP?

Thanks!!

Coca-Cola owns the trade-mark outright in sveral countries including the United Kingdom.

A Great CM, Ashley from Texas, let us know that at the Walmart near WDW, that there is Dr. Pepper. She is going to stock up for our trip and make sure that our room at the Poly is known as "Little Waco" for the abundent amount of Dr. Pepper that will have in our tiny little fridge.

I almost didn't even need to open this post to know you were from Texas. Texas and Dr. Pepper... they just go together. :hyper:

Pretty sure Coke makes the UK Dr Pepper batch. As the version we get has a slightly different taste, thanks to super heathy Brtiain deciding everythings too darn fatty. Heck we get a no sugar version of Dr Pepper here (it tastes lousy without sugar though I have to say)

As for Dr P in WDW, the nearest I could find was Mr Pibb in Downtown Disney McDonalds. Which was fine till it changed to that horrible low cal version too.

Yes they do. We always have to get some for DIL when we go to WDW and we pick it up at the Publix when we do our grocery shopping for our stay.

Nice to see another ham here. de NS1X
