And, by "unnecessary", I still mean completely "necessary".

This is Part II of my pre-trip report. Part I is posted over on the darkside, here:

To continue...

Part II: Who's the leader of the club that's made for you and me? D-O-O, F-E-N, S-H- you know what? This doesn't really work, so I'm just gonna let it go, and get on with the pre-trip planning, OK?

Anyhow, when I last left off, it was Friday, December 9th, around 9 AM, and I had just left...y'know...that other place...wink, wink...and was in a taxi heading for POFQ. This is my first time staying at POFQ, and I'm quite excited. I requested building 7, because I'm hoping it'll be on the quiet side, plus I'm planning on walking over to POR a couple of times during my stay (Got to see Yeeha Bob, am I right?).

After checking in, and dropping my luggage with bell services (unless my room is ready that early...which would be awesome), I'm off to the MK. Yeah, I managed to wait an extra day to see the boy wizard, but I'm not wasting an extra minute to get a dole whip, and a ride at the Haunted Mansion.

A general rule of thumb here, my vacation day from here on, will look a lot like this:

Get up early, grab a continental breakfast (pastry, piece of fruit, OJ), get to a park at rope drop, tour in whatever darn fashion pleases me but generally hit the long lines first, leave the park around 2:00, back to POFQ, shower, rest, then off to nightime fun (a second theme park, DTD, MVMCP, etc).

That tends to work really well for me.

OK...Saturday, I start at Epcot, but I'll finish my night at DHS, because I've got a ticket to Reunion 2011 DE-sserts and DE-lights, through Mouse Fan travel. This is brand new to me, and I'm looking forward to it! :thumbsup2

Sunday, I'll start at AK.

Monday, I'll start at DHS.

Tuesday, is kind of up in the air. I know I'll finish the day at MK, with MVMCP, though.

Wednesday, I'll likely start at whichever park I want a final look at, and finish with Epcot.

Thursday, it's a quiet moring around POFQ, then Magical Express to MCO, and a 1:55 Jetblue flight back to Logan.

As a postscript, I should point out that I'm making absolutely no ADR's on this trip. For the most part, I'll grab lunch at QS locations in the parks. For dinner, I'll try my hand at walk ups at Raglan Road, ESPN Club, House of Blues, Rose and Crown and maybe a couple of others. I don't recommend this approach for most other travellers, but I think it'll work well for me because:

A) I'm travelling at a slow time of year.
B) I'm travelling solo
C) It won't break my heart to miss any restaurant. Really.
D) I ALWAYS have a back-up plan.
E) I'm willing to eat at odd times.
F) I'm not interested in the hard to get spots.

I will, of course, report back on how successful this approach is. My last trip was 10 years ago, and this approach went off perfectly for me then. I expect it to be less effective now, but I'm not sure by how much. it'll be interesting to find out...

another fun week for youse!

i do solo trips to the motherland also.
last month was the first time i winged it in regards to food.

did make a few adrs while i was staying onsite.

some of the counter service places are really good.
i have my favorites and i'm sure you do too.

you picked a great time of the year to take your vacation.

The funny thing is the places I'm most concerned about missing (Raglan Road, Rose & Crown) have CS options right there (Cookes of Dublin, Yorkshire Shop) that sell what I'm looking for (um...fish and chips, both times), if my plan falls through. :lmao:

I just can't bring myself to make an ADR when I don't know at one point I'll actually get hungry. I really do prefer to eat when I'm hungry...I'm kinda old-fashioned that way. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the input, macraven, and for reading my ramblings. :thumbsup2

Your plans sound great! Can't wait to hear all about your trip when you return!! :cool1:

By the way, we have stayed at POFQ 4 times and we love it! It's such a quaint resort with the gaslamps and cobblestone walkways. My daughter has always loved the pool there. We love taking the boat to DTD. Food court is good (be sure to get some beignets for breakfast!). We love how small the resort is. It's so easy to walk around and it's great for tired feet at the end of the day :rotfl:

Thanks, Sharon. I'm getting quite excited about POFQ. The theming is really appealing to me, and beignets are high on my "don't miss" list.
