Dr Atkins Update

Has anyone heard anything more about Dr Atkins and how he was doing? Last I heard he was on life support and a slim chance of survival but havent heard anything more....anyone else?

Our 12:00 news just reported that Dr. Atkins passed away today.

I just heard on my local news that Dr. Atkins passed away today surrounded by family and friends.

That is very sad news. Sending hugs out to any WISHers who may be taking this news hard. All you people on Atkins are part of a living legacy that Dr. Atkins left behind. I'm glad he was surrounded by family and friends.

Very sad news. My husband and I will always be grateful to him for his eating plan.

The program has been criticized by the medical establishment as risking disease, <b>but several recent studies have shown that the diet can help people lose weight without damaging their health.</b>

How sad that the medical world was finally realizing the validity of his eating plan and he didn't get to live long enough to see it finally happen.

I notice that he is survived by his mother, wow! I wonder if she eats controlled carbohydrate meals. That would be interesting to know.

Reading this here just brought tears to my eyes. This is the first I've heard of the news. On lowcarbfriends.com they have a link to a place that you can email your thoughts to Mrs. Atkins. There is also a statement from her saying how much all the emails she has gotten mean to her (this was before his passing) but I would imagine the kind thoughts from others mean even more to his family now.

Of course the skeptics will find a way to blame his falling on his 'unhealthy' way of eating. I can here it now --- 'he must have fallen due to low blood sugar'.

This is so sad. He was obviously a man who brought lots of people a better quality of life. My heart goes out to his wife and his mother (amazing that she survived him!), and {{hugs}} to all you WISHers who are really feeling this loss!!

Oh Jody, I love that clippie of Dr. Atkins-the words are so true. I still have my husband and I was really on the way to losing him soon. Thanks to Dr. Atkins he has color in his face, instead of being all gray.
